Analyst Robert Stone of Cowen & Co. credited the company's "impressive utilization" at its plant in Frankfurt, Germany. He said he was waiting for the company's conference call this morning to offer guidance and to address its plans in Malaysia, where he expects the company to speed up the work on its fourth manufacturing plant.
He kept an "Outperform" rating on the shares, which added $37.19, or 21 percent, to $212.75 in early trading, from their Tuesday close at $175.56.

Piper Jaffray: "We continue to believe that FSLR is the only solar OEM capable of providing utilities with a solution to meet renewable portfolio standards near term thereby substantially increasing its addressable market and growth prospects. FSLR's products continue to penetrate rooftop markets (~45% in Germany was rooftop), thereby putting to rest the bear case of their rigid substrates. FSLR is targeting a complete ramp up of their 4 Malaysian plants in 4Q09 bringing the company's total
production capacity to 1GW. We do not see any near term threats to FSLR stemming from new entrants into the CdTe market or any other thin film technology."

FSLR: dove può arrivare?

L' obbiettivo di prezzo indicato da Piper Jaffray in Febbraio, è stato raggiunto venerdì 4 aprile ($ 283,9 massimo intraday e nuovo massimo assoluto per FSLR, chiusura a $278)

Piper Jaffray raises its price target on First Solar (Nasdaq: FSLR) from $250 to $280, reiterating its Buy rating, following another beat and raise quarter.

Prossimamente FSLR potrebbe consolidare oppure potrebbe proiettarsi verso il target indicato da AmTech Research , $300.

First Solar in rialzo dopo trimestrale che evidenzia forte crescita degli utili.

``They had a very strong quarter, beating estimates even as they were ramping up production,'' said John Hardy, an analyst at American Technology Research in Greenwich, Connecticut. ``They're managing costs well.''

First Solar climbed as much as $22.88, or 8 percent, to $307.80 and was up $13.58, or 4.7 percent, to $298.50 at 11:34 a.m. on the Nasdaq Stock Market.
The company first sold shares at $20 on Nov. 16, 2006. They have gained more than fourfold in the past year.

Negli ultimi minuti il rialzo si è decisamente ridimensionato ma FSLR ha ancora il segno più come altre solari.
