NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks on Wednesday turned higher as investors expressed relief that the Federal Reserve held steady on monetary policy, with only Kansas city Fed president Thomas Hoenig dissenting. "We would argue against reading too much into this particular dissent," said Action Economics. The Dow Jones Industrial Average /quotes/comstock/10w!i:dji/delayed (INDU 10,215, +20.56, +0.20%) gained 17.54 points to 10,211.83. The S&P 500 Index /quotes/comstock/21z!i1:in\x (SPX 1,094, +1.69, +0.15%) added 2.75 points to 1,094.92. The Nasdaq Composite /quotes/comstock/10y!i:comp (COMP 2,214, +10.45, +0.47%) declined 12.98 points to 2,216.63.
