The first exit polls from Germany have been released after the polling stations closed at 18.10 CET. – UPDATED
According to this second estimation, the results are as follows:
CDU/CSU (EPP): 36,1% (36 seats)
SPD (S&D): 27,5% (27 seats)
Grüne (Greens/EFA): 10,6% (10 seats)
FDP (ALDE): 2,9% (3 seats)
Die Linke (GUE/NGL): 7,6 (8 seats)
Alternative für Deutschland (—): 6,5% (6 seats)
others: 8,8% (6 seats).
The estimated turnout for Germany is 47%. It was 43.8% in 2009. These exit polls rely on research centre Forschungsgruppe Wahlen and were published by the public broadcaster ZDF.
There was no threshold for parties in the European elections in Germany after a verdict of Germany’s high court.
These are only preliminary results and could differ from the final results.
