By Amy D'Onofrio Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Natural-gas futures rose slightly Wednesday as hotter weather forecasts helped lift prices near the psychologically important $4 level.
Natural gas for September delivery recently traded up 0.8 cent, or 0.2%, to $4.002 per million British thermal units on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Futures traded as high as $4.030/MMBtu an hour before the market opened and are hovering near $4, a level that prices dropped below following last Thursday's Energy Department storage report. Traders are now waiting for this week's data for more direction.
A larger-than-expected injection triggered last Thursday's decline, but scorching heat in Texas and southern parts of the U.S. led to record power demand levels last week, which could limit the amount of fuel stored.
Hot weather is sticking over south-central states, and the East and Midwest will see above-normal temperatures in the 11- to 15-day forecast, Commodity Weather Group said.
Eastern and Midwestern states have a break now from the widespread heat seen in July, which caused that month to be the fourth warmest July on record for the country, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Demand for natural gas tends to rise in the summer with high temperatures as the fuel is used to generate electricity to power air conditioning.
The weather-driven natural-gas market has been able to avoid some of the sharp swings seen in equities and other commodities in recent days.
Still, the Federal Reserve's decision Tuesday to keep interest rates low for the next two years has lifted the overall view of the economy somewhat, said John Kilduff, founding partner at the energy hedge fund Again Capital and founder of the Kilduff Group, in a note to clients.
"Gas prices benefited both from the expectation of a pick-up in industrial demand and buoying of commodity prices that occurs from hyper-easy monetary policy," Kilduff said.
The EIA said Tuesday that industrial demand for natural gas is expected to increase 1.7% in 2011. This segment of U.S. natural-gas usage is seen as a "wild card" in this market, said Jim Ritterbusch, head of trading advisory firm Ritterbusch & Associates, in a client note.
"We feel that industrial off take is apt to fall short of yesterday's EIA guidance," Ritterbusch wrote.
Natural gas for next-day delivery at the benchmark Henry Hub in Louisiana recently traded at $4.0950/MMBtu, according to IntercontinentalExchange, up 3.1 cents from Tuesday's average. Natural gas for Thursday delivery at Transcontinental Zone 6 in New York traded at $4.3700/MMBtu, down 13.1 cents from Tuesday.

è un movimento che ha una sua eccezionalità in un momento eccezionale..
ma come movimento in sè stesso non so neppure sino a quanto possa essere considerato eccezionale.. mi sembra di ricordare che in quattro anni dal 2007 ad ora sia triplicato.. da 600 a 1800..

Si le ho ricomprate ,,,,ma per errore ( 2 conti collegati ) le ho comperate con un altro conto ,,,che non è il mio personale ma ne ho la gestione....morale ,,,,in 24 ore -1.100 euro ,,,adesso devo aspettare venerdi perche mi venga rimesso il tutto sul mio conto ,,,comunque una tragedia ,,,,,,,,e non è finita...San Paolo secondo me arriva a 0.80 e anche meno ,,,per questo vedo se domani rimbalza a 1.20 . 1.25 vendo tutto e fan..brodo ,,,,,loss di 20.000 tondi tondi ,,,,mi sta bene mi sta solo che bene........pero' cambio banca,,,,,

però.. scusate.. parlo in termini generali.. non specificatamente.. vi è un po' l'abitudine penso, anche da parte mia, che se uno perde dei soldi con un titolo o una materia prima.. vuole recuperare proprio con quel titolo o quella materia prima che glieli ha fatti perdere.. ma i soldi NON HANNO NOME.. magari uno con un altro settore è più fortunato o ci capisce di più.. perchè proprio sempre con lo stesso che ti ha fatto perdere già?
