(TMNews) - Brusca attenuazione dell'euro sul mercato dei cambi, dopo che le parole pronunciate dal presidente della Bce, Jean-Claude Trichet, non lasciano presagire un nuovo aumento dei tassi di interesse a giugno. Nella conferenza stampa a seguito del Consiglio direttivo, che oggi ha confermato all'1,25 per cento il costo del danaro nell'area euro, Trichet, pur rilevando perduranti rischi sull'inflazione, ha infatti evitato di pronunciare il termine "forte vigilanza", che solitamente utilizza nel mese che precede un rialzo dei tassi. Nel pomeriggio l'euro cala a 1,4724 dollari, laddove prima che parlasse Trichet si attestava al di sopra di 1,48.

In the week ending April 30, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 474,000, an increase of 43,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 431,000. The 4-week moving average was 431,250, an increase of 22,250 from the previous week's revised average of 409,000.

A Labor official attributed much of the increase to temporary layoffs in the auto sector and in the state of New York, where workers in the educational field such as bus drivers are eligible for compensation during the week of spring break.
