Negus e ROtt -> Raiffeisen e RZB : RBI announced yesterday the repayment of a further €750m of participation capital, this time to its majority owner RZB, in line with plans announced at the time of the bank's capital increase early in the year. The repayment doesn't affect the bank's fully loaded CET1 ratio, since legacy hybrids are excluded from capital under the fully applied CRD4/CRR rules.
Separately there is a report out this morning saying that RZB might be able to change the way it consolidates RBI and calculates capital ratios under the new rules, which could give the co-operative group a lift in its core capital ratio to 8.9% from 7.7% currently on a fully loaded basis. Would be quite helpful as the tight ratio at RZB is one of the various ongoing capital issues of the Raiffeisen group.
