BRASILIA (Reuters) - Brazil’s lower house of Congress is expected to vote on pension reform before lawmakers break for recess on July 18, presidential spokesman Otavio Rego Barros said on Tuesday.
The chances of the lower house voting before its two-week recess are “very positive”, he told reporters in Brasilia, adding that President Jair Bolsonaro is to propose changes to police pensions, including a minimum retirement age of 55.

* La Corte Suprema brasiliana ha respinto ieri due richieste di liberazione dell'ex presidente Luis Inasi Lula da Silva, che è stato imprigionato un anno fa dopo la condanna per corruzione, impugnata per persecuzione politica .

* La prima richiesta è stata respinta da quattro giudici contro 1. Nella stessa riunione, i membri del tribunale, ai quali è stato chiesto di commentare l'imparzialità dell'ex giudice che ha condannato Lula in primo grado.
E' stata respinta anche la seconda richiesta di liberazione del 73enne ex Presidente, in relazione a questa dimensione del caso, con 3 voti contro 2.
