Inflation in Spain up to 2.6% in August

Consumer Price Index in Spain rose by 2.6% year over year in August, the National Institute of Statistics revealed on Wednesday in a preliminary report. The August reading was 0.3 percentage points higher compared to the annual inflation rate recorded in July.
The increase in CPI rate in the eighth month was primarily attributed to the gasoline prices, which went up in August 2023, compared to the declines evidenced in the same month of the previous year. The annual core inflation rate stood at 6.1%.
On a monthly basis, the consumer prices were up 0.5%.
