Nell'ultima settimana il trend è stato calante. Qualche impennata c'è stata, ma dovuta più alla illiquidità dei nostri titoli sul MOT/Tlx che ad una ripresa della fase.
Poi può darsi che qualche titolo abbia una dinamica leggermente diversa, ma il trend di fondo rimane quello.

Borsa Atene: Ase a -1,6%, peggio di altre piazze europee
MILANO (MF-DJ)--L'indice Ase di Atene segna un ribasso dell'1,6% registrando un andamento peggiore rispetto alle altre piazze europee.
In calo le blue chip guidate da Piraeus, a -4,1%, e National Bank a -2,4%.

Anch'io guardo le cose con un orizzonte di lungo periodo; però, ad es., Jessica potrebbe aver recuperato un altro pò con il movimento del Ggbei; ora non ricordo con precisione i suoi pmc.

Tackling lack of teachers
Government mulling four-track strategy to combat shortages caused by retirees Trying to find enough teachers for the new academic year will be the biggest challenge in the sector faced by any Greek government in more than 35 years, Education Minister Anna Diamantopoulou said yesterday.
Diamantopoulou and her advisers have been trying to solve an arithmetic problem that even the brightest student would have trouble with: ensuring there will be enough teachers to cover all positions at primary and secondary schools when the number of educators retiring has tripled and those being hired has halved.
Due to pension reforms, there has been a dramatic rise in the number of teachers seeking to retire this summer. While 4,355 were pensioned off last year, another 11,466 have submitted their retirement papers this year. Meanwhile, compared to the average annual hires of about 6,000 new teachers, public spending cuts mean that only 2,825 educators will take up posts this year.
“This is going to be the most difficult school year since the restoration of democracy [in 1974],” said Diamantopoulou. “In order to plug the gaps, we have to prepare thoroughly so we can use the human resources we have and foresee where there may be shortfalls.”
Schools are due to open on September 13, so Diamantopoulou and her team will have to work fast if they are to ensure that things run smoothly. Their strategy will revolve around four main principles.
Firstly, they will try to make better use of the teachers already in the system, so educators will be moved from schools where there is a surplus to those experiencing shortages. They will also examine the sick leave being taken by some teachers and whether educators are fulfilling the hours they are required to by law.
Secondly, Diamantopoulou wants to see some 5,000 teachers who have been transferred to other areas of the public sector return to their original jobs. She said that 300 educators who were being employed at her ministry have been sent back to teach at schools.
Thirdly, the government will seek to hire a number of substitute teachers. Diamantopoulou refused to give an exact number but it is believed that between 11,000 and 15,000 people could be employed in this manner.
Finally, the minister has given orders for classes to be merged, up to a maximum of 25 pupils.

Bloomberg: Earnings Reporting Push Greek Banks To Consolidation
Greek banks come under growing political pressure to consolidate ahead of Q2 earnings that will be probably hit on rising loan losses and worsening asset quality in the debt-burdened country, Bloomberg reports Tuesday.
The news agency cites calls by the country’s Finance Minister and the Central Banker for banks to consider partnerships.
It notes Piraeus Bank bid for state run ATEBank, which failed the European stress test exercise last month, and Hellenic Postbank and says that mergers may help banks cut costs, strengthen balance sheets and provide better access to capital markets and funding opportunities after they probably posted an increase in loan losses and non-performing loans as well as deposit outflows.
Consolidation may not “solve the liquidity, bad debt and sovereign problems of Greek banks,” but it may help reduce competition for deposits and lead to cost savings, Pawel Uszko, an analyst at Macquarie Research in London, told Bloomberg.
Still, he says that foreign banks are unlikely to buy Greek banks at the moment due to the “uncertain sovereign backdrop and earnings pressures.”
“Mergers between big players are more likely, but only to the extent the price is right.”

Chinese defense minister meets Greek air force chief

BEIJING, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie met with a high-ranking Greek military official Monday, with the two sides pledging to boost military exchange and cooperation.
In his meeting in Beijing with Vasileios Klokozas, chief of the General Staff of the Greek Air Force, Liang noted that China-Greece relations have developed smoothly.
The bilateral relationship has witnessed expanded political mutual trust and enhanced economic cooperation, Liang said.
The two sides have also enhanced coordination in regional and international affairs, Liang added.
"China considers Greece a reliable friend and is willing to advance the comprehensive strategic partnership," Liang said.
As an important part of bilateral relations, the two sides' militaries have maintained regular exchange and enhanced cooperation, Liang added.
Klokozas said deepening friendly exchanges between the two militaries will benefit the bilateral relationship.
Klokozas also said Greece hopes to expand pragmatic military cooperation with China.

ATENE (Reuters) - A partire da settembre la Grecia incomincerà a emettere titoli di stato su base mensile invece di fare ricorso ai mercati ogni trimestre.
Lo ha detto a Reuters un funzionario dell'agenzia del debito greca (Pdma) che non vuole essere citato.
La Grecia, al momento finanziata da un prestito da 110 miliardi di euro da parte degli altri paesi della zona euro e dal Fondo Monetario Internazionale, si è finora limitata a rinnovare i titoli di Stato a breve in scadenza.
"Cominceremo con aste mensili di titoli di Stato a breve, da settembre, in linea con il memorandun Ue/Fmi aggiornato", ha detto. "E' meglio per la gestione della liquidità e ci darà più flessibilità".
Il piano è in linea con un rapporto sui progressi che aggiorna un memorandum sulle politiche economiche.
"Invece di essere assenti e ripresentarci ogni tre mesi per prendere del denaro in prestito [...] è meglio avere una presenza più frequente", ha detto il funzionario. "I titoli di Stato a breve ora sono il nostro strumento di finanziamento base".
Aste mensili contribuiranno a ridurre il profilo della durata del debito con i livelli di liquidità della Grecia che rimarrano stretti.
Le ultime aste greche risalgono a luglio. Il paese ha venduto 1,625 miliardi di euro di titoli a 26 settimane per rinnovare obbligazioni in maturazione con un rendimento del 4,65%. Il bid-to-cover è stato di 3,64. Il 20 luglio Atene ha venduto bond a 13 settimana al 4,05%.

OLLI REHN: STRESS TEST PIU' FREQUENTI PER RAFFORZARE LA FIDUCIA
Bruxelles, 24 ago. - (Adnkronos) - Stress test piu' frequenti per le banche europee per rafforzare la fiducia nel settore creditizio: lo ha auspicato il commissario europeo agli Affari Economici Olli Rehn in un'intervista a Bloomberg in cui afferma che la Ue sta valutando a "quali intervalli" ripetere le verifiche sulla solidita' degli istituti.
"Ne parlero' con i ministri delle finanze" nella riunione del prossimmo 7 settembre ha affermato Rehn, che ha definito gli stress test come quello condotto nelle scorse settimane su 91 istituti europei "uno strumento molto utile per rafforzare la fiducia, grazie alla sua trasparenza e alla solidita' dell'analisi". In un commento scritto per il Wall street Journal, poi, lo stesso Rehn commenta con favore l'evoluzione fiscale in Grecia, osservando che "Atene ha dimostrano che i critici si sbagliavano".
Per il commissario finlandese "l'ambizioso programma" varato dalle autorita' greche con l'appoggio di Ue, Bce e Fmi "sta contribuendo alla stabilita' macroeconomica e dei conti pubblici, con una crescita' piu' forte ed equilibrata nel medio termine". "Per evitare simili crisi in futuro" tuttavia, Rehn sottolinea l''importanza delle proposte della Commissione "per rafforzare in modo sostanziale il controllo preventivo e correttivo dei conti pubblici a livello europeo". Il commissario agli Affari Economici preannuncia pertanto l'intenzione "di presentare un pacchetto legislativo sulla riforma della governance entro la fine di settembre".
