Ruling Party Seems To Cope With Vote Leakage
The intense pressure exerted on ruling party MPs that could vote against the medium-term program has come to fruition, and now PASOK lawmakers state that they will vote for the program on Wednesday and the implementation act.
Firstly, Thomas Robopoulos told reporters that he is satisfied by the development initiatives of FinMin Evangelos Venizelos, and he will vote “yes”.
Panagiotis Kourouplis made similar statements, while Vasso Papandreou –though she never said she would vote “no”- cleared out that she will vote for the fiscal program and the implementation act, but “with a knife to the temple”. However, she stated that either way, the country won’t avoid default and the only solution is to restructure its debt.
Alekos Athanasiadis seems to follow the example of Dora Bakoyannis, considering voting “present”. He was convinced not to vote “no”, after the economic team postponed the privatization of Public Power Corp in 2013.
Chryssa Arapoglou is still concerned and it seems that she hasn’t decided yet.
The fear of unexpected remains, although prime minister’s team has sought for “potential rebels” throughout the ruling party ranks.
New Democracy sources note that Elsa Papadimitriou would possibly vote “present”.
It should be noted that “present” supports the majority vote, in this case “yes”.
