On Monday, Barminco Finance Pty, wholly owned subsidiary and financing vehicle of Barminco Holidngs Pty Limited (B2, negative) announced it has repurchased a further US$25 million of its outstanding 9% senior notes due 2018. This brings the total notes repurchased by Barminco to US$124 million since December 2014. US$361 million of the US$485 notes issued in May 2013 remain outstanding. The reduction in US dollar denominated debt is credit positive, as it reduces the total interest payable by the company. However, in AUD terms, the debt that the company will have to either refinance or repay at maturity remains the same. Moreover, the operating environment remains challenging. Consequently, we have maintained Barminco's rating and negative outlook. Barminco repurchased the US dollar notes using the value held in the cross currency swap the company entered in to at the time of issuing the notes.
