Ekosem agriculture: a clear profit in 2015


· Group figures at the top of the planning

· Stable sales in EUR, currency-adjusted increase of over 34%

Walldorf, June 21, 2016 - Ekosem-Agrar GmbH, the German holding company of the aligned on milk production in Russia group of companies Ekoniva has achieved the targets set for 2015 and confirms the data published in the spring of preliminary consolidated figures. Revenues in EUR terms, at around 98.1 million euros the previous year. Adjusted for currency effects, ie based on the average ruble exchange rate of the previous year, sales increased mainly due to the sharp rise in milk output by around 34%. With a share of over 64% of total sales, sales of milk production amounted to about 62 million euros, despite extremely low milk prices on the world market also in the previous year. Currency-neutral basis, milk revenues by around 30%. In agriculture, the Company continued to EUR 25.2 million (prev. EUR 24.7 million), in meat production came Ekosem agricultural to EUR 9.1 million sales (prev. EUR 6.6 million). Operating revenue (turnover plus inventory of finished and unfinished products, biological assets and other operating income) amounted to around 145 million euros, at the top of the forecasted range. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) reached EUR 56.6 million, thus exceeding the range according to preliminary figures of 50 to 55 million euros. The EBITDA margin thus amounts to 39% (prev. 42%). The operating result (EBIT) came to EUR 40 million, corresponding to an EBIT margin at the previous year's level of 28%. Consolidated net income was due to higher financial expenses EUR 5.7 million below the record earnings of the previous year amounting to EUR 17.2 million.

Due to the growth, the Group strengthened its position as the leading Russian producers of raw milk continued. The dairy herd has increased by 14% to 25,000 animals (prev. 22,100) and the annual milk production grew strongly by 17% to 180,000 tonnes (previous year. 154,000 tons). Assets totaled 31 December 2015 to 417.2 million euros (prev. 360.4 million Euro). Shareholders' equity was EUR 64.7 million to EUR 29.5 million on the previous year. This represents an improved equity ratio of around 16% (prev. 10%). Ekosem agricultural realized during the reporting period operating cash flow before interest payments and taxes of 15.6 million euros (prev. EUR 19.6 million).


In total 2016 Ekosem-Agrar expects sales of around 114 million euros, an increase of approximately 16% over the previous year and an operating profit (EBIT) of 30 to 35 million euros. In the first quarter 2016, the Group realized a turnover of 22.1 million euros (prev. EUR 19.8 million) and an EBITDA of EUR 2.3 million (prev. EUR 5.8 million). EBIT was EUR -1.3 million slightly negative (prev. EUR 2.0 million). The first quarter is generally weaker due to seasonal effects due to lack of added value in agriculture. Moreover, the still very low milk price and the first quarter of comparatively high average ruble slowed down the development. Adjusted for currency effects, the company remains a sales increase of around 30% on a growth path.


CEO Wolfgang Bläsi retires in September 2016


Following the successful refinancing by extending the two bonds of Ekosem-Agrar GmbH Wolfgang Bläsi will resign from his position as CEO in September 2016th At the same time he is a member of the Advisory Board of Ekosem-Agrar GmbH.
