Novo Banco, S.A. informs about the register of the share capital increase Novo Banco, SA (“novobanco” or the “Bank”) informs that, following the Shareholders Meeting held on the 25th of October 2022, the registration of the share capital increase arising from the conversion of conversion rights relating to 2016 and 2017 fiscal years was made today at the Commercial Registry Officer. The conversion rights were issued under the special regime applicable to deferred tax assets approved by Law No. 61/2014, of 26 August, as amended. This capital increase of novobanco is done with the incorporation of reserves in the amount of €109,421,237.09 (one hundred and nine million, four hundred and twenty-one thousand, two hundred and thirty-seven euros and nine cents), for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2016, and in the amount of €140,332,086.60 (one hundred and forty million, three hundred and thirtytwo thousand, eighty-six euros and sixty cents), for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2017, through the issuance of 436,136,626 (four hundred and thirty-six million, one hundred and thirty-six thousand, six hundred and twenty-six) new shares representing 4.13% of its share capital which are attributed to the Portuguese State in accordance with the mentioned regime. The share capital of novobanco increases to €6,304,660,637.69 (six billion, three hundred and four million, six hundred and sixty thousand, six hundred and thirty-seven euros and sixty-nine cents). With this share capital increase, and as per agreement between the Resolution Fund and the shareholder Lone Star in the context of the sale of the 75% share capital of novobanco, only the participation of the Resolution Fund will be diluted. The Portuguese State will hold 5.69% of novobanco share capital. This announcement is made in accordance and for the purpose of article of article 29-Q, No. 3 of the Portuguese Securities Code and the article 17 of Regulation (EU) No. 596/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council. E fai benissimo a tenerla. Purtroppo illiquidita’ si traduce in spread assurdi. E per chi ha bisogno di liquidare è un problema non da poco.

Novo Banco com menos 223 trabalhadores e 34 balcões em setembro face a 2021

...Novo Banco ha annunciato di aver realizzato nei primi nove mesi dell'anno un utile di 428,3 milioni di euro, in crescita del 178% rispetto allo stesso periodo dell'anno precedente.
Secondo la banca, l'incremento di oltre 274,3 milioni di euro nei primi nove mesi, rispetto allo stesso periodo dell'anno precedente, mostra "la crescita sostenuta del business a dimostrazione della capacità di generare ricavi e capitale, nonostante l'attuale contesto macroeconomico contesto, pressioni inflazionistiche e rialzo dei tassi di interesse".
Nel terzo trimestre dell'anno il risultato è stato di 161,6 milioni di euro, in crescita del 30,3% rispetto al trimestre precedente.
Quanto a questo trimestre, Novo Banco giustifica "l'evoluzione positiva dovuta al miglioramento del margine di intermediazione (+7,1%), al contenimento dei costi operativi (+0,4%) e al minor livello di svalutazioni e accantonamenti"...
 
Portugal's Novo Banco should be ready to seize the opportunity for an initial public offering when markets open up to listings, as it seeks to remain independent, its new CEO Mark Bourke told Reuters on Tuesday.
Analysts have speculated that profit-making Novo Banco, which emerged from the ruins of collapsed Banco Espirito Santo in 2014 and is controlled by U.S. private equity fund Lone Star, could be merged with another lender looking to consolidate its position in Portugal.
But Bourke, who took over in August, said that "Portugal is not like some of the north European countries, which are massively over-banked", as the five largest players own 80%-85% of the banking assets, a high level of concentration.
Novo Banco is now "a profitable, well-capitalised bank that can actually compete, endure, remain independent in the Portuguese market, and can invest and expand," he said.
The bank should build on its recovery track record and "be ready when and if the IPO opportunity arises to take advantage of it", he said.
Bourke, who had been chief financial officer since 2019, would not say where the bank could seek to be listed, although Portuguese companies usually choose Euronext Lisbon. RTRS
