Brazil's former President Michel Temer was arrested on Thursday in an investigation of alleged graft in the construction of nuclear plant Angra 3, prosecutors told Reuters, rattling the political class and threatening to delay a major pension reform.

Hanno iniziato con Lula (con motivazioni risibili).
Poi Temer ha silurato la Dilma Roussef con le solite questioni.

Ed anche intorno all'entourage di Bolsonaro ci sono faccende poco chiare.
A partire dal figlio ...

Vale S.A. 'BBB-' Ratings Affirmed With Negative Outlook; Stand-Alone Credit Profile Lowered To 'bbb-' From 'bbb'

  • Brazilian mining company Vale S.A. has been proactive in repairing
damages from the Brumadinho dam burst on Jan. 25, 2019, and has
implemented measures to assure some similar dams are quickly
decommissioned. According to preliminary investigation outcomes, all mine
audits and certifications meet safety standards.
  • However, given the scope of the accident along with the Samarco dam burst
in 2015, we believe shortcomings existed in the company's ability to
comprehend, map, control, and mitigate disposition risks. Therefore,
we're revising our management and governance assessment on Vale to weak.
  • On the other hand, we believe the company is well-positioned to offset
volume decline with its sound operating efficiency and cash flows amid
higher metals prices, while it has significant cushion in its balance
sheet and liquidity to absorb potential fines and liabilities. Vale's
decision to cut dividends and executive bonuses has also helped preserve
    liquidity.
  • SAO PAULO (S&P Global Ratings) March 21, 2019--S&P Global Ratings
affirmed its global scale issuer credit and issue-level ratings on Vale
S.A. and Vale Canada at 'BBB-' and removed them from CreditWatch with
negative implications where we had placed them on Jan. 25, 2019. We also
lowered Vale's stand-alone credit profile (SACP) to 'bbb-' from 'bbb'. We
affirmed our 'brAAA' national scale rating on Vale. The national scale
    rating has a stable outlook.
  • The negative outlook on the global scale ratings reflects the significant
uncertainties about the amount of fines and litigation that Vale will
need to deal with, and how these will hit financial metrics and
liquidity. It also reflects potential reputational impacts. The cause of
the accident, actions implemented to mitigate risks, and final
implications to credit metrics will be key in accessing further downgrade
    risks.

Petrobras is re-evaluating a partnership with China National Petroleum Corp. (NYSE:PTR) to build a refinery in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro state, Valor Economico reports.
PBR is having second thoughts on the Comperj refinery because new CEO Roberto Castello Branco thinks the company should aggressively divest from the oil refining business, according to the report.
Separately, PBR is in exclusive talks with Warburg Pincus-backed firm Trident Energy to sell its Pampo and Enchova shallow water oil clusters off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
The clusters once were expected to fetch ~$1B, but a potential sale to Brazilian energy company Ouro Preto Oleo e Gas fell through.
