Abengoa awarded project to construct a power transmission line in UAE
Transco, the company responsible for high voltage power transmission in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, has selected Abengoa to construct a 400/220 kV transmission line.
· The project, which will be 23 km long, is worth €22 million.
September 11, 2015 – Abengoa (MCE: ABG.B/P SM /NASDAQ: ABGB), the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the energy and environment sectors, has been selected by Abu Dhabi Transmission & Despatch Company (Transco) to construct a 400/220 kV power transmission line with a total length of 23 km.
Abengoa will be responsible for the construction, procurement and commissioning of the transmission line, which will connect the junction point in Al Fayah and the Shamkha substation, in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. The construction phase of the project will last for 16 months.
Abengoa has been present in the Middle East, and more specifically the UAE, for more than 10 years, where it has constructed other transmission and distribution projects such as the Fujairah transmission line for Transco, as well as the 100 MW Shams-1 STE plant, which is already operational.
This latest award will further boost Abengoa’s presence and business in the Middle East and consolidate its leadership position in the engineering and construction of power transmission lines, with more than 26,000 km and nearly 300 substations constructed around the world
