SINGAPORE, March 7 (Reuters) - The following are stories

THE STRAITS TIMES
-In another sign of improving relations between China and
Singapore, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing said
yesterday that Beijing was ready to further its friendship
and cooperation.
-Singapore's swift action in providing aid to
tsunami-affected regions has won praise from United Nations
Secretary-General Kofi Annan, who thanked Prime Minister Lee
Hsien Loong in a letter for Singapore's contribution and
support given to the UN's humanitarian efforts.
THE BUSINESS TIMES
-European semiconductor maker STMicroelectronics
is in the process of shifting its entire global production of
radio frequency identification (RFID) chips to Singapore and
production is expected to start from the third quarter of
this year, said Francis Dell'ova, RFID/memory products
business unit manager of STMicro's memory products group.
-Buoyant economies at home and in the region boosted
local banks' fee and commission income, with DBS the richest
of the three, making a record S$1 billion ($615 million) in
2004.
-Singapore investors' trading in U.S. stocks jumped 25
percent in the fourth quarter of 2004 from the previous three
months when investors, spooked by record high oil prices and
signs of the U.S. economy hitting a soft patch, treaded water
to post a flat $12 billion in transactions.
