Ireland Current Account Deficit Narrows In Q2

(RTTNews) - Ireland's
current account deficit narrowed to EUR 1.14 billion in the second quarter from EUR 1.6 billion in the first quarter, the Central Statistics Office said Thursday.
The merchandise surplus rose to EUR 9.8 billion in the second quarter from EUR 9.38 billion in the first quarter. At the same time, services deficit was EUR 2.4 billion, up from EUR 2.06 billion.
Net income outflows dropped to EUR 7.98 billion from EUR 8.2 billion due to a reduction in net portfolio investment income. Capital account
balance showed a deficit of EUR 28 million compared to a surplus of EUR 17 million.
Financial account balance showed a surplus of EUR 7.9 billion compared to EUR 5.39 billion. Direct investment outflows reduced to EUR 624 million from EUR 698 million in the previous quarter.
