Greenspan:Would be optimistic on US absent oil rise

WASHINGTON, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan on Wednesday said he would be "very optimistic" on the outlook for the U.S. economy absent the sharp rise in oil prices.
"If it weren't for the oil price spike, I would be very optimistic about where the economy is going," Greenspan told the U.S. House of Representatives Budget Committee.
