Euro debt-Bund future spikes up after explosions in Buenos Aires
LONDON, Nov 17 (Reuters) - The December Bund future spiked higher on Wednesday after news of explosions at branches of Citibank in Argentina's capital Buenos Aires boosted the appeal of safe-haven bonds.
An explosion struck two branches of Citibank <C.N> in Buenos Aires, killing a security guard, and another bomb exploded at Argentine bank Banco Galicia <GAL.BA>, police said.
"A resumption of geopolitical fears at a time when the markets are quite solid can only serve to provide impetus for prices to rise and yields to fall," said Nathalie Fillet, senior interest rate strategist at BNP Paribas in London.
"We see the first target for the 10-year Bund yield at 3.70 percent."
At 1446 GMT, the December Bund future was down 13 ticks on the day at 117.83, but above the 117.78 level traded before news of the explosion. It spiked as high as 117.89.
The 10-year Bund yield <EU10YT=RR> was at 3.77 percent, up 1.4 basis points on the day.
