Coinbase Global Inc. said Monday it plans to sell $1.25 billion of convertible debt, the same day its stock closed below its $250 reference price for the first time since the crypto platform listed on the Nasdaq exchange in mid-April.
Coinbase whose users primarily deal in bitcoin and Ether on the Ethereum protocol, last week reported strong first-quarter results, in line with its preliminary release before it went public. The platform is now looking to sell bonds due in 2026, which can convert to Class A common stock, if the stock hits a set strike price.
“This capital raise represents an opportunity to bolster Coinbase’s already strong balance sheet with low-cost capital that maintains operating freedom and minimizes dilution for Coinbase’s stockholders,” the company said in a statement. Proceeds from the debt deal were earmarked for general corporate purposes. (MW)

Sara´ almeno un anno e mezzo che leggo di Burry posizionato short su Tesla.
A furia di riposizionarsi short, prima o poi ci azzecca. Ma nel frattempo io sarei molto curioso di sapere quanto capitale ha bruciato in un anno e mezzo.
Piccola puntualizzazione: sono azionista e fan di Tesla (credo sia risaputo), ma le uscite di Musk in queste ultime settimane non mi sono piaciute affatto, e sto riflettendo se dimezzare l´investimento.

Poco mosso il Treasury Note a dieci anni, a 1,64%, in attesa degli interventi di alcuni membri del board della Federal Reserve: ogni accenno, anche impercettibile ad un ridimensionamento degli aiuti monetari, seppur giustificato dal fatto che l’economia tira, che le aziende non riescono a trovare manodopera e che i consumatori si stanno preparando a spendere a più non posso, impatta sulle obbligazioni e scatena una volatilità capace di disarcionare il Toro.
... e riflettevo. C'è così tanta gente che ha il naso rientrante a furia di prendere sportellate in faccia. Non sanno più a che santo votarsi per invocare l'orso. Poi arriverà e tutti a dire "beh, ma era logico che si scendesse, era tutto troppo tirato, i multipli erano esagerati, le banche centrali raccontavano solo storielle, ecc. ecc. ecc."

First-quarter profits at Italy's top insurer Generali beat analysts' expectations due to the positive contribution from the non-life and asset management businesses and as the life segment proved resilient despite low interest rates.
Operating profit, the figure most closely watched by the market, stood at 1.6 billion euros ($1.95 billion) in the quarter, up 11% compared with the same period last year and above a company-provided analyst consensus of 1.48 billion euros.
"The rebalancing of the life business mix continues, allowing us to maintain excellent profitability in the current low interest rate environment," Finance Chief Cristiano Borean said in a statement.
Generali's solvency ratio, which measures capital strength under European Union risk-measurement rules, stood at 234%, up from 224% at end of December, due to "excellent capital generation and positive market performance", the company said.
The insurer confirmed the targets of its business plan to 2021, including a projected average annual growth in earnings per share of between 6% and 8%, it said in a statement on Tuesday.
