Athens Stocks Sharply Lower
Greek market moves sharply lower on Wednesday.
“We consider that yesterday΄s abrupt descending move, following S&P΄s late in the day downgrade of Cyprus, consists a hyperbole that shook the Athens market more than it deserved. Although we do not deny that the environment remains challenging, we fail to understand the dynamics behind yesterday΄s drop, thus regarding that should the market open on slightly lower grounds, we would strongly consider increasing our position. In this context, we would be buyers if the market opened towards the 1,480 units region (1st support level), anticipating that the market will most probably rebound towards the 1,505 (pivot point) - 1,515 (1st resistance level) region later during the day. That said, we note, however, that our stop-loss level stands just below the 1,470 units, a bottom which we think that has been already tested too many times to still be able to provide us with a reaction,” Pegasus Securities said in its morning report.
“Eurozone debt concerns will continue to weigh on the markets until this is winded down, with markets appearing very sensitive to any related newsflow. Domestically, weak reading overseas and lack of any catalysts domestically results to a sideways move with a negative drift,” Kyprou Securities says.
Across the board, the General Index drops 1.45% at 1,472.51 on a total turnover of 41.35 mil. euro.

Borsa Atene: Ase a -1,5%, sentiment negativo
MILANO (MF-DJ)--L'indice Ase della Borsa di Atene e' in ribasso dell'1,5% a quota 1472,23 punti. I volumi si attestano a 42,5 mln euro.
"Il sentiment degli investitori e' negativo per via della notizia che l'Ue non paghera' la terza tranche da 110 mld euro prevista dal pacchetto di salvataggio prima di gennaio", dichiara un analista senior locale.
In territorio negativo Alpha a -4%, Eurobank a -3,5%, Titan a -2,9%, Opap a -1,7%, Ppc a -1,6% e National a -1,5%.

Germania, la Merkel dedica ai tedeschi un bel "dank"
(Teleborsa) - Roma, 17 nov - Il cancelliere tedesco Angela Merkel ha affidato ad una lettera indirizzata ai suoi compatrioti i ringraziamenti per aver aiutato la Germania a uscire dalla crisi economica "meglio di chiunque altro" paese. Si tratta di una camapagna pubblicitaria diffusa stamane sui principali quotidiani tedeschi, che costerà attorno ai 2,8 mln di euro.
"Nonostante le preoccupazioni e le spese (che hanno pesato su di voi), non vi siete persi d'animo e avete raggiunto obiettivi che sembravano impensabili fino a pochi mesi fa", ha scritto il cancelliere.
"Io non credo nei miracoli - ha aggiunto la Merkel - ma credo nella gente di questo paese: nelle loro idee, nel loro buon senso, e nella loro attitudine al fare".

Penso proprio di si.
Gli ispettori della Troika sono già ad Atene.
Comunque il problema sta a monte: bisogna risolvere la questione Irlanda, poi quella del Fondo di Emergenza... la strada è lunga.

EU’s Competition Chief Says Looking For Aegean, Olympic Solution
The European Commission is still looking for suitable remedies from Greek airlines Aegean and Olympic before deciding whether to clear their merger, an EU executive said on Wednesday, Reuters reports.
"We are finding some difficulties, we are in contact with the parties, we still have time to find an adequate solution. We are preparing our final decision in close contact with the parties in finding an adequate solution," Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia told a news conference.
The Commission has set a Jan. 12 deadline for its decision.
Reuters notes that the merger would create a dominant carrier in Greece΄s domestic market, with a fleet of 64 aircraft and a workforce of 5,850 employees.
