Production Index in Industry Fell By 7.6% In Nov 2010



The Production Index in Industry (IPI) recorded a fall of 7.6% in November 2010 compared with November 2009, said Hellenic Statistical Authority in a statement.

In November 2009, the annual rate of change of the IPI was -5.2 %.

In the Jan-Nov 2010 period, the average rate of change of the IPI was – 5.7 %. In November 2009, the corresponding average rate of change of the IPI was –9.6 %, according to ELSTAT.

The IPI in November 2010, compared with November 2009, decreased by 7.6% due to the annual changes of the sub-indices of the industrial sections:

a. Mining and quarrying production fell by 3.5%.

b. Manufacturing production fell by 6.5%.

c. Electricity production fell by 13.3%.

d. Water supply production fell by 1.3%.

2. Average rates of change of the Jan-Nov 2010 period compared with Jan–Nov 2009.

The IPI in the Jan-Nov 2010 period, compared with the period Jan-Nov 2009, decreased by 5.7% due to the 11-month average rates of change of the sub-indices of the industrial sections:

a. Mining and quarrying production fell by 6.3%.

b. Manufacturing production fell by 4.9%.

c. Electricity production fell by 9.3%.

d. Water supply production rose by 0.8%.

Il sostegno alla proposta di istituire gli eurobond nell'area euro sta crescendo. E' quanto afferma il ministro dell'economia, Giulio Tremonti, in un'intervista al quotidiano francese Les Echos. "L'idea si sta facendo strada", ha detto, "la nostra proposta ha la maggioranza nel parlamento Europeo, un'istituzione con un ruolo strategico". Tanto piu' che sebbene "i governi siano divisi" i parlamenti "sono favorevoli", come favorevole e' l'Ungheria che assumera' la presidenza dell'Unione. Commentando le perplessita' di Francia e Germania sugli eurobond, Tremonti avverte che "non bisogna dimenticare che l'esposizione complessiva delle loro banche al debito sovrano degli altri paesi dell'Eurozona e' ben superiore a mille miliardi di euro". Per questo "le discussioni stanno proseguendo", ha aggiunto Tremonti, sottolineando che "il tempo per le divisioni e gli egoismi e' passato".

Greek Bond Spreads Hit New Record



Greek 10-year spreads hit another record high amid volatility and just ease off their new record, according to Dow Jones Newswires.

The midpoint spread topped the fresh record of 985 bps and have now eased to 969 bps. Monday΄s record occurred just a day before a EUR1.5bn auction of 6-month T-Bills, considered an important test of market sentiment.

"After the ECB started buying Portuguese debt we saw fresh but mild buying interest in the Greek sovereign market," a senior local trader told the news agency. "If the wider mood surrounding the euro periphery doesn’t improve quickly we could see Greek spreads jump above the psychological 1,000 bps level."
