Greece Announces Privatization Program



Greece plans to reduce its stake in Hellenic Telecoms (OTE), gambling company OPAP, Public Power Corporation and Public Gas Corporation.

Regarding public property, a total amount of €15b is expected to be raised in the 2011-2015 period, and €50b by 2015.

Greece plans to reduce its stake in Hellenic Postbank and Agricultural Bank (ATE) and sell the commercial department of Loans and Consignment Fund.

The country also plans to reduce its stake in Public Power Corp to 34 percent from 51% in 2012, while stake in Public Gas Corp will be reduced to 34% in 2011, according to a statement. Public’s stake in OTE is also planned to be reduced this year.

Mining and metallurgical company LARCO will be fully sold, while water supply companies will remain state-controlled with a stake owned by private investors. Additionally, there is a provision for a strategic investor in Hellenic Post in 2012.

Government announced the extension of the concession contract with OPAP by one year, while plans to sell down its stake in 2012 to raise "significant funds".

The country will also sell its holdings in casinos and call a tender for the national lottery, while the privatization of Horse Racing Organization is provided for 2012.

Greece plans to gradually reduce its stake in Athens International Airport from next year as part of its state asset sale plans.

As regards the utilization of public property, the schedule is as follows:

• March-April 2011: Appointment of consortiums for evaluation

• June 2011: Delivery of the first portfolio
- June 2011: Appointment of consultants to promote development and investment products
- June-September 2011: Legislative interventions
- October 2011 - 2012: Promotion to international markets

• December 2011: Delivery of the second portfolio and replay of the above procedure

• June 2012: Delivery of the third portfolio and replay of the above procedure

• December 2012: Delivery of the fourth portfolio and replay of the above procedure

Principalmente segnali politici: tipo bocciatura del piano in Parlamento, dimissioni di Papaconstantinou, spaccatura del Pasok, ecc.
Dal punto di vista economico i primi risultati li attendo per questa estate.

Greek debt restructuring no disaster -German dep minister to BBG

BERLIN, April 15 (Reuters) - A restructuring of Greek sovereign debt would not be a disaster, a senior German government figure was quoted as saying by Bloomberg on Friday.
Germany would back a voluntary Greek debt restructuring, said Werner Hoyer, one of Germany's deputy foreign ministers and a member of the junior coalition party Free Democrats (FDP).
"A haircut or a restructuring of the debt would not be a disaster," he was quoted as saying.
If Greece's creditors agreed that talks with Athens "would be helpful toward a restructuring of the debt, then of course this would be supported by us," Hoyer was quoted as saying.

ATHENS, April 15 (Reuters) - It is not clear when Greece will exit the crisis, Prime Minister George Papandreou said on Friday.
"If we do our work, shutting our ears to the sirens of catastrophe and misery, then in 2012 the way out (of the crisis) can become visible," Papandreou told ruling PASOK party lawmakers after outlining new fiscal and privatisation plans.

il mio parere? ma che, scherzate?

Sono totalmente incapace di esprimere un pensiero che valga la pena di essere letto. Se si tratta di una aziendina, soprattutto se quotata oltreoceano, magari posso fare qualche ipotesi sulla "convenienza" ed opportunità di far leva su procedure fallimentari per ristrutturarsi. Uno stato, non ne sono proprio capace. Troppe variabili che non capisco e "politiche".

Se volete vi racconto l'analisi che ho fatto della società "USA Co", salvo accorgermi troppo tardi che era lo stato Americano...

Grecia: Record spread,sfonda 1.000 punti

(ANSA) - ROMA, 15 APR - Impennata dello spread dei titoli di Stato ellenici rispetto al bund tedesco che ha raggiunto il nuovo record a 1.038 punti, il livello piu' alto dall'introduzione dell'euro. Contemporaneamente tocca un nuovo massimo storico il rischio default della Grecia percepito dagli investitori. I credit default swaps (cds) sono schizzati a 1.147 punti, indicando che c'e' un 63% di probabilita' che il Paese fallisca entro i prossimi cinque anni.

Non ho cambiato parere e neanche Nick .... per sdrammatizzare un po', questo gioco al massacro (fatto da media+banche+agenzie di rating+guru assortiti+varie autorità europee+politici greci) è davvero sfibrante !!!

Quanto per il gioco al massacro, tutto fa pensare che continuerà, visto che si continua a rimandare i piani economici e le privatizzazioni...

Ciao Buttozzo, non distrarti da sabbia, sole e mare .

La situazione è grave da un punto di vista delle quotazioni ma da un punto di vista macro non abbiano nessuna novità di rilievo. Salvo il piano presentato, a grandi linee, da Papandreou che non ha riscosso le simpatie dei mercati.
La BCE non interviene, credo, per far pressione ai "politici", quindi i prezzi risultano in caduta libera.
Analoga situazione sul resto dei Periferici.
