UK Hague: Further Support for Greece Is For IMF, Euro Zone, Not UK
LUXEMBOURG (Dow Jones)--U.K. Foreign Secretary William Hague insisted Monday his government would not participate directly in further financial assistance for Greece.
"Our view is that any such support for Greece is for the euro zone and for the IMF [International Monetary Fund], not the United Kingdom," he said on his way into a meeting of European Union foreign ministers.
The U.K. would contribute to any further package through the IMF, but has said there should be no use of the European Financial Stabilization Mechanism for Greece.
The U.K. contributes to the EUR60 billion EFSM, but not to the euro zone's main bailout facility, the European Financial Stability Facility.
