Greek media say Greece to ask for aid at 0900 GMT

ATHENS, April 23 (Reuters) - Greece will request the activation of an EU/IMF package at 0900 GMT, Greek media said on Friday, citing unnamed sources.
Greek officials were not immediately available for comment.
"The die has been cast, Greece is turing to the EU/IMF aid mechanism today, the relevant announcement will be made at 1200 local," Greek daily To Vima's website wrote, without citing sources.
Financial website Reporter.gr gave the same information, citing unnamed sources.

Greece must improve tax collection - IMF

ATHENS, April 23 (Reuters) - The IMF has told Greece it must address structural weakenesses in tax compliance and punish big tax dodgers, the Greek Finance Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
"Among the immediate priorities is... a programme of controls including rigorous penalties and persecution in large cases of non-compliance," the ministry said, citing recommendations by the IMF. Greece started this week talks to hammer out details of a potential European and International Monetary Fund aid deal on Wednesday

Turkey denies reports on financial aid offer to Greece
Several Turkish newspapers quoted news stories from Greek newspapers claiming that Erdogan offered financial assistance to Greece during his phone conversation with Papandreou on April 16.

Turkish Prime Ministry denied claims that Turkey offered financial assistance to Greece.



Releasing a statement on Friday, the ministry stated that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Greek counterpart George Papandreou made a phone conversation, and discussed the details of Erdogan's planned visit to Athens and also exchanged views about the relations between Turkey and Greece.

Financial assistance offer and related issues were definitely not discussed in the conversation, the Prime Ministry stressed.

Several Turkish newspapers quoted news stories from Greek newspapers claiming that Erdogan offered financial assistance to Greece during his phone conversation with Papandreou on April 16.

Earlier today, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that Prime Minister Erdogan would pay a formal visit to Greek capital of Athens on May 14 and 15.

ATENE, 23 aprile (Ruters) - La Grecia chiederà l'attivazione del pacchetto di auti dell'Unione europea e del Fondo monetario internazionale stamattina alle 11,00 ora italiana.
Lo riportano i media greci che citano fonti anonime.
"Il giorno è arrivato, la Grecia si affiderà al meccanismo di sostegNo Ue-Fmi oggi, l'annuncio verrà fatto alle 12,00 ora di Atene" si legge nel sito web del quotidiano To Vima.
