I rateo tuttavia matura. Questa e' la cosa piu' importante.

Sta tornando a livelli interessanti ;)

La cosa paradossale e' che sono stati downgradati a livelli infimi da S&P un paio di giorni. Tuttavia il CEO vede una svolta. Le societa di rating guardano sola al passato...e comunque il FIS potrebbe sempre entrare.

CMA CGM positive on return to profits

By Robert Wright, Shipping and Logistics Correspondent

The operator of the world’s third-largest container ship fleet, France’s CMA CGM, has forecast a return to profitability for the full year, despite reporting a $248m net loss for the first quarter amid the worldwide glut of container ships.
The comments from the group, the most optimistic so far from any large container line, come after it was forced in March to announce that it would sell assets and was asking for a rescheduling of its debt payments for this year and the next. The line said it had returned to break even in April as rates per container recovered and fuel prices fell. The benchmark Shanghai Containerised Freight index stood at $1,666 per 20-foot equivalent unit (TEU) on June 1 against $490 per TEU at the end of December, it said. Fuel prices had fallen to $560 per tonne by the start of June, down 20 per cent from their peak in March, it added.
Michel Sirat, CMA CGM’s chief financial officer, said falling oil prices and
rising freight rates so far in the second quarter were exactly the opposite of developments in the first quarter.
“We’re confident Q2 is going to be very good,” said Mr Sirat. “Obviously, it’s still a fragile and volatile business but we’re very pleased we’re going to be able to deliver a positive 2012.”
CMA CGM was previously forced to seek a financial restructuring in September 2009 as slumping container volumes pushed the group and other container lines into significant losses. Robert Yildirim, a Turkish investor, eventually injected $500m into the group to rescue it in November 2010.
As part of the most recently announced restructuring, CMA CGM said it planned to sell a minority stake in Terminal Link, its terminal operating business, which owns stakes in 20 terminals in ports worldwide.
Mr Sirat said CMA CGM was in “ongoing discussions” with a number of potential investors in Terminal Link but was expecting closure on any deal at the end of this year.
On the discussions with the company’s banks, Mr Sirat said CMA CGM was seeking a standstill agreement on its loans to soothe out the profile of debt repayments in this year and the next. “We are in active discussions with our banks,” said Mr Sirat. “They are progressing very well.”
Under his agreements with Jacques Saadé and other members of the founding Saadé family, Mr Yildirim could inject a further $250m into CMA CGM.
Mr Sirat declined to comment on whether Mr Yildirim would make a further investment as part of the restructuring. “It’s part of the overall financial discussions with our banks,” he said.
CMA CGM’s volumes grew 13.4 per cent year on year for the first quarter, to 2.6m TEUs. Revenue rose 2.6 per cent to $3.6bn.

la fregatura è che il rateo matura mentre i soldi in cassa rendono quasi nulla e per una società che non riesce a fare utili sembrerebbe un paradosso ma in effetti è un sintomo del tumore maligno bancario che la tiene sotto scacco da troppi anni

Belize could be heading to a debt default

More than half of Belize’s large bondholders have formed a creditors committee out of concern that the Caribbean country will become the next sovereign to default on its debts.

According to a report in the Financial Times, this committee represents almost half of the holders of a US$547m bond due in 2029.

The creditors, who hold more than US$200m of the debt reportedly became alarmed when informed by the Belize government that it might “amend certain terms” of the bond.
Last week, Belize Prime Minister Dean Barrow revealed that the government was in talks to restructure the large bond before an interest payment of US$23.5 million is due in August, after the interest rate stepped up to 8.5 percent this year.

According to Reuters data, the bond's yield trades at 1,689 basis points over US Treasuries, well above levels for nations such as Pakistan or Venezuela.

Reports are that the bond has been trading at a subdued price for some time, as investors have widely expected a debt restructuring. Moody’s this month cut Belize’s credit rating for a second time this year, down to Ca, citing a likely restructuring and the country’s weak economic growth.

The bond was approved in 2007 in an effort to consolidate the country’s debt, which totals about US$1 billion, more than 70 per cent of Belize’s $1.4 billion gross domestic product, according to the central bank.

Barrow told the media last week that restructuring talks were going well and the government's debt restructuring team had met with officials from the International Monetary Fund and the Inter-American Development Bank and feedback had been positive.

However, the representatives from the creditors’ ad hoc committee appear far more concerned than government reports would suggest.

“While we are sympathetic to the challenges facing Belize, any proposed amendment that results in a net present value or principal loss to creditors would not, based on the committee’s current understanding of the situation in Belize, be considered acceptable or, for that matter, necessary,” said AJ Mediratta, a partner at Greylock Capital Management and chairman of the creditors committee, as reported in the Financial Times.

Greylock Capital was one of the hedge funds that sat on Greece’s creditors committee this year.

Belize’s creditors committee is advised by BroadSpan Capital, a Latin America-focused investment banking boutique that also advised international creditors to Saint Kitts and Nevis, the Caribbean island federation, in debt restructuring this year.
