DJ MARKET TALK: ICE Coffee Rallies; Brazil Seen Mostly Dry
1007 EDT [Dow Jones] -Dec pit-traded arabica coffee is up 539 points at
$1.2620 a pound after a 6 1/2-month high of $1.2640. "We followed London
higher, gapping up and working through technical areas with a lack of Brazilian
origin selling," a New York desk trader says. "Forecasters are calling for less
rain in Brazil through month-end than they were last week." Brazil's groves
should be mostly warm and dry through Friday, DTN Meteorlogix says. Rain is
needed after a premature bloom in spots in August and for Brazil's normal
flowering, which is under way in Parana now. Brazilian growers are withholding
new beans, hoping for higher prices. Asian robusta supplies are expected to be
tight until Vietnam's new crop starts moving to market in late November and
December. ICE Pit Dec is supported at a gap at $1.2475-$1.2150, with resistance
at $1.2640-$1.2650, $1.2660, $1.2675 and $1.27.
