BASF said Friday that attributable income and sales revenue for the first six months of 2023 dropped on a yearly basis.
Net income attributable to shareholders for the six months ended June 30 was 2.06 billion euros, compared with 3.31 billion euros a year ago. EPS was 2.31 euros, compared with 3.65 euros.
The German chemicals company's sales revenue was 37.3 billion euros, compared with 46.06 billion euros previously.
Analysts polled by Visible Alpha were expecting 2.41 billion euros in net income or 2.7 euros per share, while revenue was estimated at 38.7 billion euros.
For 2023, the company slashed its sales guidance to a range of 73 billion euros to 76 billion euros from the range of 84 billion euros to 87 billion euros forecasted in the 2022 annual report.
