Industrial Turnover Index Inclined By 9.8%
The Hellenic Statistical Authority said that the Turnover Index in Industry (both domestic and non-domestic market) in May 2011 compared with May 2010 recorded an incline of 9.8%. In May 2010, the annual rate of change of the Turnover Index in Industry was 13.3%.
The average Turnover Index in Industry for the 12-month period from June 2010 to May 2011, as compared to the 12-month period from June 2009 to May 2010, increased by 7.2%. In May 2009, the corresponding average rate of change of the Turnover Index in Industry was –11.0%.
The increase of the Turnover Index in Industry by 9.8% in May 2011, compared with May 2010, was due to the annual changes as following:
by Industrial Sections
- Mining and quarrying turnover decreased by 25.4%.
- Manufacturing turnover increased by 10.5%.
In addition, the increase of the Turnover Index in Industry by 9.8% in May 2011, compared with May 2010, was due to the annual changes of the indices of the markets as following:
- The Turnover Index in Industry for the domestic market increased by 0.6%.
- The Turnover Index in Industry for the non-domestic market increased by 26.4%.
The increase of the Turnover Index in Industry for the non-domestic market by 26.4% in May 2011, compared with May 2010, was due to the annual changes as following:
- The Turnover Index in Industry for the Eurozone countries increased by 19.3%.
- The Turnover Index in Industry for the non-Eurozone countries increased by 30.5%.

Arrivals Of Non-residents From Abroad Increased By 13.1%
According to the Border Statistical Survey conducted by the Bank of Greece, in the period Jan-March of 2011, arrivals of non-residents from abroad increased by 13,1%, as compared with the same period of the year 2010.
More specifically, arrivals from Europe, which account for the majority of arrivals of non-residents to Greece (81.7%), registered a increase of 8.6% in Jan-March 2011 as compared with the same period of 2010, while arrivals from the Member States of the European Union recorded a increase of 1.1%. Arrivals from Russia (79.8%), France (70.5%), Albania (53.9%), U.K (32.4%), showed a significant increase.
On the other hand, a significant decrease of arrivals was observed in the cases of Italy (29.4%), Germany (19.5%), and Cyprus (15.9%). As regards to the distribution of arrivals by country of origin of non-residents, the largest number of arrivals came from Bulgaria (10.3%), Cyprus (8.5%), Germany (7.8%), the United Kingdom (7.1%).
Moreover, the corresponding data for the rest of the continents show a significant increase of arrivals from Asia for the period Jan-March 2011 as compared with the same period of 2010.
The analysis of the data by means of transportation and by point of entry shows that most arrivals are by air, and airports with the largest proportion of traffic to be those of Athens (Eleftherios Venizelos) (40.0%), and Thessaloniki (6.6%).

ESF: acquisti sul secondario???
Nel frattempo - riporta sempre l'agenzia Bloomberg - spunta un'altra idea ancora per uscire dalla crisi: consentire al fondo di emergenza di acquistare i bond dei paesi periferici nel mercato secondario e al contempo permettere agli stessi Piigs di riacquistare il proprio debito sul mercato.
I colloqui per rendere piu' flessibile lo European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF), dandogli liberta' di manovra sul mercato secondario, non sono la prima iniziativa che va in questa direzione. Il mese scorso i leader europei avevano trovato un'intesa per aumentare la capacita' di prestito dell'EFSF rispetto al suo target orginario.
Non ricordo se questa notizia è già stata postata, se si mi scuso.

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - A meeting of euro zone financial officials to prepare options for a second bailout for Greece has been delayed until Thursday morning from Wednesday evening, euro zone sources said.
The delay, designed to give more time for a deal to be reached on the involvement of the private sector, means that a summit of euro zone leaders will now start at 1 p.m. (1100 GMT), an hour later than initially planned, the sources said.
