Zona euro, aiuti finanziari non saranno automatici - Merkel

BERLINO, 22 luglio (Reuters) - L'Europa non deve diventare un'unione in cui ci siano traferimenti automatici degli stati più ricchi verso quelli più poveri. Lo ha detto oggi la Cancelliera tedesca Angela Merkel.
"Un'unione di trasferimenti comporterebbe un automatico riequilibrio finanziario...e questo non dovrebbe succedere, secondo la mia convinzione" ha detto la Merkel.
Merkel ha spiegato che il parlamento tedesco deciderà sui cambiamenti nel meccanismo del fondo europeo di salvataggio Efsf dopo la pausa estiva.
"La nuova versione Efsf sarà decisa dopo la pausa estiva dei lavori parlamentari" ha detto.
All'interno dell'accordo sul secondo pacchetto di salvataggio delle Grecia raggiunto ieri, i leader della zona euro hanno convenuto di permettere al fondo europeo di salvataggio di acquistare bond sul mercato secondario se la Banca centrale europea lo reputa necessario per combattere la crisi.

Greek FinMin: Greek Banks Are The Safest In Europe



Any downgrade of Greek bonds by the rating agencies would have no impact on the operation of Greek banks, as the Eurosystem would act as a “shield of protection” for them, said Greek Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos at a press conference.

He admitted that the banks would need capital strengthening by the package, but in any case, Greek depositors should feel safe, as the domestic banking system is probably the most guaranteed in the European Union.

The Minister clarified that the government has no intention to nationalize the banks, but prefers their rationalization and strengthening with “hard” capital.

Evangelos Venizelos spoke of a clear and solemn response for the euro, which suffered asymmetrical attacks from the markets.

The average duration of the Greek debt stands at 13.5 years and the average total interest rate below 5%, while the gain from the repurchase of bonds is expected to reach €26 billion. The Minister did not rule out the enhancing of the initiative with further capital. The insurance funds would participate in the extension of debt with new 30-year bonds, but would not record any accounting losses.

Venizelos, also Deputy Prime Minister, described in a very positive matter the plan of aid package, characterized as new Marshal plan, but stressed that the need for mobilization of Greek and foreign funds to return the country in positive growth next year. Finally, he urge the Greek parties and social organization to appreciate the efforts made and agree on the maximum national consensus.
