Dutch PM says supports German position in Greek bailout
AMSTERDAM | Fri Jun 10, 2011 9:38am EDT
AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said on Friday that he supported the German government in its view that the private sector had to participate in a new bailout package for debt-laden Greece.
"We view the German proposals favorably. The position of (German Finance Minister Wolfgang) Schaeuble and (German Chancellor Angela) Merkel seems reasonable, rolling over the debt a bit and having the private sector take some of the responsibility, possibly on a voluntary basis," Rutte told a televised press conference in The Hague.
If the International Monetary Fund said yes to the new debt package for Greece, then this is something that the Netherlands should take seriously, Rutte added.
