The Hanriot HD-1 was designed by Pierre Dupont of Société Anonyme des Appareils d'Aviation Hanriot in 1916, despite being a very well designed fighter aircraft it was rejected by the French Air Service but fortunately was brought by both the Belgian and Italian air services resulting in a total of 956 aircraft having been built by the end of WWI.

CARACAS - Sono almeno 15 le persone morte delle 47 persone che si trovavano a bordo dell'aereo schiantatosi oggi in Venezuela: lo ha reso noto la protezione civile di Caracas citata dall'emittente Telesur. Alcuni media locali hanno d'altra parte reso noto che l'aereo della Conviasa aveva avuto problemi meccanici e che per questa ragione il pilota, Ramiro Caceres, aveva tentato un ammaraggio nelle acque del fiume Orinoco, decidendo poi di proseguire il volo. Caceres era riuscito a comunicare di aver rilevato "una perdita di controllo" del velivolo all'aeroporto Manuel Carlos Piar mentre si trovava a una decina di chilometri dall'aeroporto di Puerto Ordaz. Il velivolo, aggiungono i media, si è schiantato vicino agli stabilimenti del gruppo siderurgico Sidor (Siderurgia de Orinoco), che fino alla sua nazionalizzazione, qualche mese fa, apparteneva al gruppo italo-argentino Techint.
L'Unità di crisi della Farnesina, in contatto con l'ambasciata d'Italia a Caracas, sta verificando l'eventuale presenza di italiani a bordo dell'aereo.
