The Boeing Company secured a $16.8 million contract from the United States Air Force to enhance the KC-46A tanker's software and data systems, boosting its mission readiness and performance capabilities, the company said Monday.
The agreement covers upgrades to the Onboard Performance Tool software, more efficient cargo loading, better takeoff and landing data management, and faster flight planning. These improvements will allow aircrews to perform weight and balance calculations more swiftly, and expedite aircraft loading and mission starts.
"The U.S. Air Force and allies are performing crucial global missions with the growing KC-46A tanker fleet and finding ways to extract more capability from the platform […] We're collaborating to integrate enhancements like these and bring additional capabilities to the battlespace as rapidly as possible to meet the evolving needs of the mission," said KC-46 Vice President and Program Manager, Lynn Fox.
