Che hanno fatto per arrivare al default i bravi irlandesi? Dopo secoli e millenni di miseria e di emigrazione per fame, di dominio straniero, dopo aver conteso a noi italiani il triste primato dei più poveri e dei più fuori legge, improvvisamente, senza alcuna ragionevole previsione - com'è della "triste scienza" - arriva la ricchezza sotto forma di investimenti stranieri, di incentivi fiscali, di prestiti bancari. Capitalisti di tutto il mondo scoprono nell'Irlanda, per secoli gemente sotto il dominio inglese, ricca solo di verdi valli e di buon whiskey, il nuovo Eldorado. E che fanno gli irlandesi per secoli costretti alla miseria e alla servitù? Si mettono a spendere e spandere furiosamente finché le casse delle loro banche sono vuote e devono farsi prestare i soldi dal resto d'Europa.

'mazza che ignorante ! Probabilmente anche le recentemente acquisite abitudini spenderecce degli autoctoni avranno contribuito al dissesto, ma sappiamo tutti (tranne evidentemente Bocca) che i guai dell'Irlanda sono dovuti alla voragine che si e' aperta nei conti delle banche e della quale si e' fatta carico il bilancio dello stato.
La colpa e' del management di queste banche che per liquidarsi bonus sempre piu' ricchi ha spinto la leva a livelli assurdi con conseguenze catastrofiche quando e' arrivata la crisi del 2008.

Bocca e' decisamente l'ultima persona a poter giudicare gli economisti, visto che non e' neanche in grado di capire quando ci azzeccano o meno.

parla per te che hai Cerbero che ti sbrana se realizzi la perdita ... tutti gli altri possono sempre rinsavire e decidersi finalmente a vendere ... tranne ovviamente g.ln , la cui testardaggine e' a prova di ogni rinsavimento

Spread/Bund sempre ad alti livelli sul Club Med, minime le oscillazioni.
Siamo in attesa che il mercato prenda una direzione più definita.
Al momento niente di nuovo sul fronte periferico.

Mayor Boutaris Proposes “Slavo Macedonia” for FYROM’s Official Name

The new Mayor of Thessaloniki, Giannis Boutaris stated in an interview to the Slavomacedonian newspaper “Utrinski Vesnik”, that FYROM’s government should compromise and make efforts to find a fair solution to the name issue.
Boutaris claims that the most appropriate solution was to find a compound name and he proposes the name “Slavomacedonia”, as he considers that this is better than the Northern or Upper Macedonia.
“The Slavs arrived in the Balkans in the 6th century A.D. However, other people lived here long before them.
The fact that the Slavs moved and live in the area for centuries, certainly enables them to be called Macedonians, but a special feature is needed in order to have a distinction, because Macedonians used to live long before in the area.
These are two different things and should be clear to everyone. What seems strange to me, is why a Slav or a Slavic group, who as a people have done a lot and have a great history, which should be proud of, call and want more things, more history, to be proud”, stated Boutaris.

Bond trading GGB


Greek bond trading on the electronic secondary securities market known as HDAT fell 52 percent in November to 926 million euros ($1.2 billion) from 1.94 billion the previous month, the country’s central bank said.

The most actively traded security was the 10-year bond, with 211 million euros of transactions, the Bank of Greece said yesterday in an e-mailed statement.
Of the 800 orders executed on the system, 63.6 percent were sell orders, the bank said.

Fuel prices are...



Fuel prices are unlikely to drop after reaching as high as 1.70 euros per liter in parts of the country this week, according to the head of the Attica gas station owners’ federation, Giorgos Asmatoglou.
He told Skai TV yesterday that ‘there is no solution’ to the rising prices.
‘The price from the refinery is 1.20 euros per liter and then we have to pay the distributor and the transport costs,’ he said.
‘We are already at 1.50 euros per liter in Attica and the price is set to rise to 1.65-1.70 after the recent rise in the price of crude oil.’

Bomb defused at Greek embassy



Italian bomb disposal experts yesterday defused an explosive package that was sent to the Greek Embassy in Rome, four days after similar parcel bombs injured staff at two other missions in the Italian capital.

Police said that the bomb deactivated at the Greek Embassy was similar to those that went off last week, injuring two employees at the Swiss and Chilean embassies.

Last week’s attacks were claimed by an Italian anarchist group calling itself the Informal Anarchist Federation (FAI). A note found at the Chilean Embassy said the blast was carried out by FAI’s “Lambros Fountas revolutionary cell,” a reference to a suspected member of the Greek terrorist group Revolutionary Struggle who was killed in a shootout with police in Athens in March.

“The parcel bomb arrived on Friday, but it had not been opened because of the Christmas holiday break,” Michael Cambanis, the Greek ambassador to Italy, told local media. “We saw a suspicious package and we immediately informed the police,” he said.

Embassies strengthened security measures in the wake of last week’s blasts and Italian police had to respond to a number of false alarms at the missions of Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Monaco, Albania, Ukraine and Venezuela.

Last month, more than a dozen packages were sent to foreign embassies in Athens and European government officials, forcing Greece to halt international mail. Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire, a Greek urban guerrilla group, claimed responsibility for the attacks which slightly injured one person.

Italian authorities have turned to Greek officials for help in establishing a possible connection between the two incidents. But, speaking to the ANSA news agency yesterday, Greek Foreign Ministry spokesman Grigoris Delavekouras said that so far there is no evidence of a link.

Public sector streamlining on way

Minister asks for all civil servants’ details so government can prepare for transfers, efficiency drive


The process that will see up to 50,000 civil servants transferred to different departments as part of a wider effort to make the public sector more efficient was set into motion yesterday by Interior Minister Yiannis Ragousis.

The government has made no secret of its desire to overhaul the wider civil service, which includes schools, hospitals and the public transport system. In fact, it has come under pressure from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund to do so as excessive amounts of money are being wasted in the public sector, which needs to be slashed if Greece is to reach its deficit targets.

Ragousis sent a circular to all government departments yesterday, asking that each ministry take stock of the personnel under its auspices, make a list of their skills, find out how many have been transferred to other jobs and identify any positions that have not been filled and those that are oversubscribed.

A census of state employees – the first of its kind in Greece – was completed in July, when public servants were asked to enter their details online or face having their wages stopped.

Just over 768,000 bureaucrats took part in the process. The number of civil servants, which does not include those working in the broader public sector, represents 17.5 percent of the overall working population, which totals 4.4 million people.

From the analysis of the data submitted by the bureaucrats, it emerged that 54 percent were men and one-third are aged between 40 and 50. Almost 40 percent have a university education and 28 percent have only finished high school.

However, Ragousis is hoping that his latest effort to glean more information about the personnel that the state employs will help the government in its bid to make the public sector more efficient. This scheme will begin with the transfer of 25,000 to 50,000 civil servants from positions where they are not required to other areas where there are shortages.

The minister has asked for the information to be collected and sent to him by February 10, so the government can draw up its plans for transferring staff and overhauling the public sector.

Provocatorio, abbastanza provocatorio, da leggere con attenzione specie tra le righe. E' un articolo + politico che economico
Interessante è invece il commento di Giannini (Oscar,credo): In Italia abbiamo avuto un grande economista che è stato Sylos Labini e oggi chi gli si avvicina di più è Marcello De Cecco. Entrambi hanno scritto, e il secondo lo fa ancora, sul suo giornale la Repubblica. Per esempio se lei va al 7/8/03 scoprirà che sin da allora S. Labini diceva che vedeva in giro una situazione simile a quella che aveva preceduto la crisi del 29. Di grazia, dr. Bocca, cos'altro avrebbe dovuto dire per suonare l'allarme? Certo Sylos Labini non era tipo da invitare in TV, anche perchè riteneva il Berlusconismo un attentato alla civiltà e lo diceva in ogni occasione; allora, era ed è, meglio invitare quegli economisti che si limitano a ripetere i comunicati stampa e i paper che vengono da oltre oceano, e non per pigrizia ...

Tutta questa aria di attesa che ha caratterizzato il mese di dicembre sembra volgere al termine.

Nei giorni precedenti il Natale abbiamo avuto uno strappo sul moto oscillatorio degli spread/bund andando fuori range di una trentina di punti base.
Lo stesso si è verificato sui periferici più esposti, a partire dall'Irlanda.

Abbiamo tutti gli occhi puntati sulle prime emissioni del debito pubblico spagnolo di gennaio: intanto un primo assaggio lo avremo sui nostri BTP che emetteranno entro capodanno. Una scelta giusta prima della tempesta?

Io mi auguro che gennaio sia finalmente una data da cui ripartire, di svolta. Una convergenza di interessi dall'Europa alla Cina potrebbe saldare un fronte contro la speculazione di Wall Street.

Sui nostri ellenici, aldilà delle nostre considerazioni sulle ipotesi di ristrutturazione del debito, si giocherà la capacità di reazione dell'Europa.
Come da tutte le svolte ne usciremo rafforzati ... o indeboliti.
