Secondo Risk.net in Europa, i CDS continuano ad essere volatili intorno ai periferici con il Portogallo in movimento a 446bp da 453bp rispetto alla chiusura di ieri.
L'Italia ha stretto di un 1BP a 174bp, l'Irlanda scende a 588bp da 597bp mentre la Grecia passa a 888bp dopo aver chiuso ieri a 939bp. La Spagna aumenta leggermente, passando da 245bp a 248bp.

Papandreou Attacks Pessimistic Claims Regarding Greece’s Economic Reforms

Papandreou charged a “volley of pessimism” by political parties and politicians who claim, inter alia, that the country’s economic reform programme was ineffectual and that the deficit will exceed ten percent, thus bringing new austerity measures, according to sources.
He said the volley has also been taken up by some mass media, in a climate of disaster-mongering, complaints and resignation.
The prime minister said, according to sources, that the assessment by the EU-IMF Troika group, in its recent visit to Athens was “positive” and secured the disbursement of the fourth tranche of the support loan.
He told the Cabinet that the government’s decision to legislate the prohibition of state assets was “historical”, and instructed the ministers to record the state property under their supervision and submit suggestions for its exploitation.
“The country is not collapsing. On the contrary, it has acquired credibility, in tandem with the optimistic assessments of the markets,” Papandreou said.

Ieri piccola pausa per i nostri ellenici, il movimento di allargamento si è arrestato dopo nove chiusure consecutive negative.
Anche la Borsa di Atene ha registrato, in controtendenza alle altre piazze, un risultato positivo con un ritorno verso quota 1700.
Potrebbe trattarsi di un rimbalzo tecnico anche se, a questo punto, il tempo potrebbe giocare in nostro favore. Mancano due settimane per cercare di dirimere la questione del debito europeo e trovare le necessarie intese. A questo punto, si dovrà passare ai fatti.

Le intese possono essere trovate, come pure le possibili soluzioni che stanno facendo muffa sui tavoli di discussione.
E' palpabile il possibile terreno di scambio tra presidenza BCE, aiuti EFSF, imposizioni stringenti in termini di politiche economiche.
A questo punto serve una decisione "forte" delle istanze politiche.

Possono svanire queste aspettative?
Non possiamo nasconderci dietro ad un dito: in Irlanda la situazione è tutt'altro dall'essere risolta, in Portogallo la speculazione soffia forte, in Germania verso fine marzo ci sono le importanti elezioni nei lander.
Probabilmente la Merkel potrebbe uscirne sconfitta, come reagirà in vista delle elezioni politiche del prossimo anno?

Nel frattempo gli altri Periferici hanno allargato, oltre alla situazione "Euro", pesa forte il contesto internazionale.
Nello specifico quello arabo.
Forse potremmo trovarci di fronte ad un "'68" arabo, visto che i giovani sono sempre in prima fila, come pure gli strumenti della "rete" adottati.
Però tutta questa successione di "incendi" dalla Tunisia all'Egitto, dall'Algeria alla Libia, per spostarsi ora verso i pozzi del Bahrein sembra un poco diretta: nuove personalità sono già pronte a prenderne il posto (spesso e volentieri è lo stesso entourage)
E' vero che quando le rivoluzioni scoppiano si assiste ad un progressivo incendio "nell'intera prateria", gli esempi non mancano.
Lo scetticismo rimane, insieme al fatto che la situazione potrebbe scivolare di mano al burattinaio.

Candidato tedesco a Bce, tema si affronterà dopo marzo-Schaeuble

BERLINO, 18 febbraio (Reuters) - La successione a Jean Claude Trichet alla guida della Banca centrale europea non verrà affrontata nell'incontro del Gruppo dei 20 questa settimana ma dopo marzo. A dirlo il ministro delle Finanze tedesco Wolfgang Schauble.
"Vedremo allora (se ci sarà un candidato tedesco). La cosa importante è che si abbia un buon candidato", ha detto il ministro parlando al canale radio tedesco Deutschlandfunk.

Feb. hotel rates down 7%



(ANA-MPA) -- Athens’ hotel room prices remained stable in February, with the average price for an overnight stay in a standard double room at 85 euros, down from an average rate of 107 euros in European capitals, a survey by www.trivago.gr showed on Thursday.

Greek hotel prices were down 7.0 pct in February, compared with the same month last year, while hotel prices in Cyprus were unchanged over the same period.

First hurdle cleared for 'closed professions' bill



(ANA-MPA) -- A parliament plenary passed a bill on liberalising so-called "closed shop" professions in principle (first reading) on Wednesday night.

The bill, which has drawn strong criticism from the opposition parties and the closed profession categories that will be 'opened', is the 'cornerstone' of the reforms being advanced by the government, and responds to the exclusion of young people from entering the economy on their own strength and knowledge, ruling PASOK rapporteur Markos Bolaris said.

Main opposition New Democracy (ND) said it backs the philosophy of the 'opening' of the 'closed professions', but cannot vote for the bill because it is not founded on studies of the social repercussions and leads to de-organisation of the market.
