IL PARERE DI NUOVA DEMOCRAZIA



Main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Antonis Samaras said that early elections are inevitable for the government, in an interview with the Sunday edition of Eleftheros Typos newspaper, adding that "all control has been lost of the deficits and the debt".
Samaras said that the government's dead-ends were growing daily, since it "policy has failed".
He reiterated that the government's programme is wrong, noting: "Of course there are many and large mistakes and delays in the implementation of the (economic) programme, but the programme itself creates a much deeper recession than originally predicted. That is why it is not meeting its targets."

The opposition party's reacted critically on Saturday to an address by prime minister George Papandreou at his ruling PASOK party's national conference earlier in the day.
Main opposition New Democracy (ND), via party press spokesman Yiannis Michelakis, said that Papandreou "in a boring text he read out today to a frozen audience, forgot that he has been governing Greece over the last two years".
"In such critical hours, Mr. Papandreou unfortunately seems to be living in another planetary dimension without having any relation to the Greek reality," Michelakis added.
Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS), in a statement, noted that in the past they were calling "arise Andreas (Papandreou) to see them", adding that it is easy for one to imagine the disappointment that PASOK's founder would feel today in his heirs".
The Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA parliamentary alliance) called the premier's address an "example of the most arrogant right-wing government in the post-dictatorship, which has the audacity, after all the measures it has taken that demolish society, to speak of growth, work and democracy, while accusing the Left of being dogmatic".
A SYRIZA statement said that "the people, in the squares and on the streets, with the demonstration at the (upcoming) Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF, where the prime ministers traditionally unveil the economic policy for the following year) as the landmark, will show the prime minister and the government that the fairy tales are finished".
The non-parliamentary Democratic Left (DIMAR) party opined that the premier's address could have easily been delivered in 2005, 2006 or 2007, but not in 2011 and definitely not in the Greece of poverty, unemployment and recession.
DIMAR seriously doubted that the PASOK government is doing what must be done to bring Greece out of the crisis: "All the indicators bear witness to the opposite, that with its policy the government is pushing the country to bankruptcy and the society to the margins".

Europa, settimana di test per crisi debito

MILANO, 5 settembre (Reuters) - L'Europa dovrà affrontare una serie di test politici e giudiziari questa settimana, che potrebbero mettere in luce la debolezza dei tentativi di risolvere la crisi del debito sovrano nella zona euro e aumentare la pressione sui governi dei paesi membri a mettere in atto soluzioni più radicali.
Innazitutto, una sentenza della Corte costituzionale federale tedesca, attesa mercoledì, potrebbe ridurre la libertà del governo tedesco a finanziare paesi in crisi, come la Grecia.
La Corte dovrà infatti dire se Berlino, finanziando il salvataggio di paesi come Grecia, Portogallo e Irlanda, stia infrangendo le leggi nazionali e i trattati europei.
Inoltre la Banca centrale europea, divisa al suo interno in merito all'intervento sul mercato obbligazionario per proteggere l'Italia, questa settimane farà una valuitazione del piano in atto. Nell'incontro mensile previsto per giovedì l'istituto di Francoforte dovrebbe infatti decidere se continuare ad acquistare titoli di stato italiani.
Il piano di acquisto dei bond prevedeva che l'Italia nel frattempo approvasse in fretta una serie di misure d'austerità per riconquistare la fiducia dei mercati, ma i numeri della manovra finanziaria delineata dal governo Berlusconi sono stati messi in discussione.
Ora la Bce dovrà decidere se continuare gli acquisti dei titoli di stato o se una simile azione stia peggiorando la situazione, allentando la pressione sull'Italia a mettere in ordine le proprie finanze pubbliche.
Infine, questa settimana la Grecia scoprirà quanti investitori privati hanno accettato lo swap sui titoli di stato.
Entro venerdì pomeriggio le banche dovranno dire se sono interessate o meno allo swap. Gli istituti dovranno poi impegnarsi entro metà ottobre.

Troika-Labour Ministry In Tug Of War



Troika senior officials ask Greek Labour Ministry to create multiple salary bands across the country, based on local, sectoral needs or even cross-border agreements and uniform low wages.

The Troika calls for spending cutting and revenue increase, which could be done either by tackling tax evasion, or by reducing expenditure or by a new horizontal cutting of pensions. Labour Minister Giorgos Koutroumanis admitted that supplementary pension in SOE and banks would be cut by around 40%.

Ministry’s leadership seeks ways to avoid the abolishment of sectoral agreements and convince lenders that Greece is proceeding with measures, which would bring statutorily cost reduction also in the private sector. However, the international lenders are not convinced that the special labour contract would pay off, as only 10 have signed special contracts to reduce wages.

According to sources, the Ministry has already begun to prepare plans for application of differentiated salary bands, depending on local needs or sector requirements.
The Troika proposed the establishment of wage cross-border zones, with low wages, in order to support the stay or entry of enterprises in Greece. Thus, it would be possible to apply “Bulgarian” salaries in Northern Greece, not exceeding €350/month.

In order to keep a low profile and avoid pressures on sectoral agreements, the Ministry promotes measures to facilitate procedures for specific labour contracts.
