Chinese evacuees in Crete, awaiting airlift to motherland​

HERAKLION, Greece, Feb. 25, (Xinhua) -- The return to motherland for thousands of Chinese evacuees from riot-torn Libya to the southern Greek island of Crete will take some more time, said Chinese embassy officials on Friday. "Because of some technical issues regarding the arrangements for the chartered flights to China from Heraklion, more time is needed," said Chinese Ambassador to Greece Luo Linquan who visited the first 4,200 Chinese evacuees from Libya on Thursday in a dozen hotels across the city on Friday.

Nevertheless, the Chinese nationals are satisfied with their treatment in Crete and are very grateful to the Greek government and Greek people for their help. "They are all very tired, impatient to meet their beloved ones, and at the same time excited with Greece and the Greek people, their hospitality and the food,"noted Luo, adding in Greek "poli kala, poli orea" (very good, very well) when he talked to Greek media.

Representatives of the Chinese community in Greece also handed over Chinese packaged food and medicine to evacuees.

There are some 20 slightly injured amongst the Chinese nationals who arrived in Heraklion on Thursday aboard two ships. Local hospitals are on standby to offer medical aid to anybody in need.

Greek local authorities have discussed with officials from the consulates of approximately 4,500 Philippinos and 3,000 British nationals to Crete.

Greece supports the evacuation operation of other countries, as the rescue mission of Greek nationals in Libya has almost winded up. With the exception of a dozen Greeks still stranded in Sahara desert, more than 200 Greeks and Cypriots have returned safely in early Friday to Athens airport aboard three C-130 military transport planes sent to Libya.

Among them is an injured employee at the Greek embassy in Tripoli who was shot in the shoulder and legs.

L'esempio di Tommy è calzante: ricordiamoci della Romania e dell'Irak. Tutta questa voglia di democrazia in Paesi che non sanno neanche cosa voglia dire è una cosa difficile da credere. Noi vediamo tutti i movimenti sociali con i nostri occhi di occidentali. Speriamo che l'Europa (e l'Italia) tuteli i suoi interessi in quelle aree, prima che lo facciano (molto bene) gli americani, con la scusa di esportare la democrazia.
In questa area, a un tiro di fucile da casa nostra, dobbiamo far sentire la nostra voce (e non solo) forte e chiara! Speriamo che ancora una volta l'Italia non si dimostri timorosa di tutelare i propri interessi!

Il beduino Gheddafi non è peggio nè meglio di tanti altri dittatorelli sparsi lungo il continente africano e panarabo.
Forse, agli occhi occidentali, un pò più stravagante nel suo modo di atteggiarsi e parlare. Oltre a questo non mi pare ci sia altro.

Greek Euro Exit ‘Not Taboo, But Wrong,’ Schaeuble Tells Focus

German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said a Greek exit from the euro “is not taboo, but I think it’s wrong,” according to a Focus magazine interview.
Greece’s return to the drachma would be “catastrophic” for the German economy because it would trigger an appreciation of the euro, damping German exports, Schaeuble told the magazine.
Allowing countries to exit the euro temporarily would mean “the beginning of the end” of the single currency, Schaeuble told Focus. German funds directed toward aiding indebted countries are an investment in the euro, he said.

Visto che le decisioni in materia di finanza dei Paesi periferici finiscono per dipendere dalla politica interna tedesca, può forse essere utile aver presente il calendario dei prossimi appuntamenti elettorali. Purtroppo il calendario è molto fitto e si protrae sino a settembre. Tra parentesi ho indicato il numero di seggi in palio al Bundesrat:

German FM says return to Drachma would be wrong

Schaeuble suggests exit from euro would be 'beginning of the end'

German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble has told Focus magazine in an interview that a Greek exit from the euro “is not taboo, but I think it’s wrong,” according to Bloomberg.

Greece’s return to the drachma would be “catastrophic” for the German economy because it would trigger an appreciation of the euro, damping the country’s exports, Schaeuble told the German magazine.

Allowing countries to exit the euro temporarily would mean “the beginning of the end” of the single currency, Schaeuble told Focus. German funds directed toward aiding indebted countries are an investment in the euro, he said.

The European Economic Advisory Group (EEAG), a group of leading European economists, recommended earlier this week drastic steps to prevent the EU from having to provide Greece with long-term aid.

The EEAG suggested that Greece should either return to its national currency, the drachma, or launch even tougher austerity measures, including general cuts in wages and salaries.

Se è per quello, neanche la Germania ...

In Europa, a parte gli inglesi arruolati in pianta stabile assieme agli USA, solo la Francia ha una forza armata di rispetto.

La democrazia nei paesi mediorientali per ora è difficile da immaginare, le persone non sanno nemmeno cosa sia e chissà quanti anni dovranno ancora passare...Dai dittatorelli di turno passeremo a oligarchie o similprotettorati ma la musica non cambierà, gli interessi in gioco sono molti. Parlando di stati africani questo è il risultato della loro troppo rapida dichiarazione di indipendenza avvenuta per di più negli anni 60 dai loro stati europei di protezione, ricordiamoci che quel poco di infrastrutture che ci sono in Libia sappiamo chi le ha fatte...Per quanto riguarda la credibilità e importanza dell'Italia a livello mondiale si può dire che è molto bassa, tanti esempi lo dimostrano non da ultimo il caso VERAMENTE SCANDALOSO DI CESARE BATTISTI, agli americani un affronto simile non l'avrebbero certo fatto. Visto che siamo in tema di petrolio ci vorrebbeancora un Enrico Mattei ma nessuno sa più nemmeno chi era, uno dei pochi che hanno gettato vere basi industriali.
