EU's Juncker: No Indication On Result Of Troika Report




LUXEMBOURG -(Dow Jones)- Eurogroup President Jean-Claude Juncker Friday toned down his remarks on Greece, after he indicated Thursday that the International Monetary Fund may withhold the next tranche of badly-needed financial aid for the country.
"I don't know what the final assessment of the troika will be," as their report is only due next week, Juncker told reporters at a briefing here.
Referring to comments he made Thursday, Juncker said he had only been stating the facts and had not intend to pre-empt the outcome of the troika report.
Juncker's implication Thursday that Greece's next infusion of financial aid was in doubt had put pressure on the euro with dealers worried about another escalation in Europe's debt crisis.
"According to the statutes of the IMF, it can only disburse when refinancing over a period of 12 month is guaranteed. It's factual, not any comment," said Juncker, who is also Prime Minister of Luxembourg.
A visiting delegation of EU, IMF and European Central Bank officials--known as the troika--are currently in Athens to judge the country's eligibility to receive the next tranche of financial aid.

Il presidente francese Nicolas Sarkozy, ha escluso che si possa giungere a una ristrutturazione del debito della Grecia.
Secondo il presidente francese il settore privato potrebbe però farsi carico di una parte del peso del debito di Atene fermo restando che se ristrutturazione significa che un paese europeo ha il diritto di non rimborsare il debito, allora questa parola “non fa parte del vocabolario francese”.


Allora stiamo aprendo nuove vie. I privati possono avere decurato il loro valore ma non è una ristrutturazione?

Ormai qua non si capisce più niente...

Sarkozy wants bondholders to share burden




French President Nicolas Sarkozy said on Friday bondholders need to share the burden of solving Greece’s fiscal woes. His comments followed those made by a Greman official on the issue of restructuring Greek debt.
Sarkozy called for a “formula” involving investors, adding to talk that Europe might engineer an extension of Greece’s debt repayment schedule or press bondholders to buy new bonds as old ones mature.
“Restructuring is a poorly used word,” the French president told reporters after a Group of Eight summit in Deauville, France. “If it means that we can think of ways for the private sector, private operators, to take on a share of the burden, it’s not restructuring at all; then there are formulas, there is no problem, and we should then converge in that direction.”
Saddled with Europe’s heaviest debt load, Greece is seeking additional loans after last year’s 110 billion-euro European-led package failed to dig it out of its fiscal hole. The European Central Bank has led the charge against a restructuring, warning of a domino effect in European markets.
On Friday, a leading member of German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s party said ECB fears that rolling over the maturities of Greek debt could spark turmoil in the euro region may be unfounded.
Michael Meister, the Christian Democratic finance policy spokesman in parliament, said Greece’s creditors may accept an extension of bond maturities if the Greek government adopts a more aggressive approach to cutting debt.
“If Greece takes steps that signal to capital markets that something’s being done to lessen the risk for capital markets and creditors, then we’re not talking about coercive measures affecting creditors, we’re talking about joint contributions toward taking some of the risk out of the market,” Meister told Bloomberg.
Meister’s comments underline the view of Germany, the euro region’s biggest contributor to Greece’s bailout last year, that the Greek government has untapped potential to cut its debt and that Merkel won’t be pressed into ruling out options ahead of a Greek asset sales drive.
Greek 10-year bonds are trading at less than 55 cents on the euro, a sign of investors’ diminishing expectations of being repaid in full.

"If the question is whether we can look at how private individuals or partners can take a share of the burden, this is not at all restructuring," Sarkozy said in the closing press conference of the summit of leader of the Group of Eight leading nations.
"There are formulae and there is no problem" to involve the private sector, he said. "And it's in this direction that everyone should converge."

Comunque dalla parola tabù innominabile siamo passati alla 'ricetta del giorno' che ogni interpellato di vario ordine e grado si sente in dovere di tirar fuori dal cilindro. A mio avviso ce la stanno servendo.. Come detto in un'altra complicata vicenda, è solo questione di come indorare la supposta...

In altre parole stiamo arrivando a quanto dicevamo qui un anno fa. Una moral suasion verso le grosse istituzioni a rollare i bond in scadenza.
Se è così allora se ci ascoltavano oggi non saremmo a questo punto.
Non è che ci leggono e poi gli vengono le idee..
