Altra giornata carica di tensione sul fronte periferico.
I nostri ellenici sembrerebbero aver già assorbito il "supposto" downgrade, stazionando ormai attorno ad un differenziale storico con il Bund.
I due "Papa" hanno ribadito nelle scorse giornate che non ci sono "piani" per la ristrutturazione del debito del paese e che il nominale non verrà toccato: il mercato ci crede poco.
Intanto continua a salire la febbre sugli altri periferici: l'Irlanda si è risvegliata, puntando verso il massimo storico dei giorni pre-salvataggio di dicembre.
Il Portogallo e la Spagna continuano ad allargare, seguiti a distanza da Italia e Belgio.
In Belgio la situazione politica si fa sempre più ingarbugliata: sono ormai più di sei mesi che il paese non ha un governo in carica.
Le difficoltà di un accordo tra Fiamminghi e Valloni, all'indomani del turno elettorale, sembra insormontabile.
Riusciranno i nostri eroi nella quadratura del cerchio?

Στήριξη στην κυβέρνηση για την μέχρι στιγμής εκτέλεση του οικονομικού προγράμματος δίνει ο υφυπουργός Οικονομικών της Γερμανίας Γιοργκ Ασμουσεν, επισημαίνοντας την ίδια στιγμή υπό μορφή αιχμής πως η αξιοπιστία των στατιστικών στοιχείων είναι ζωτικής σημασίας για την ανάκτηση της εμπιστοσύνης των αγορών έναντι της Αθήνας -ταυτόχρονα με την απαρέγκλιτη εκπλήρωση των στόχων καθ' όλη τη διάρκεια της τριετίας και βήματα για την τόνωση της ανταγωνιστικότητας.​

Attuazione di supporto per il governo finora del programma economico dà il Segretario delle Finanze di Germania Jorg Asmousen, indicando al tempo stesso, sotto forma di bordo che l'affidabilità delle statistiche è di vitale importanza per il recupero di fiducia del mercato nei confronti di Atene e al tempo stesso obiettivi di performance rigorosa nei tre anni e le misure per favorire la competitività.

Μιλώντας σε Έλληνες δημοσιογράφους στο Βερολίνο ο Γιοργκ Ασμουσεν, πιθανός διάδοχος του Βόλφγκανγκ Σόιμπλε στο υπουργείο Οικονομικών, αναφέρει ότι δεν υπάρχει ζήτημα αναδιάρθρωσης του ελληνικού χρέους, ενώ χαρακτηρίζει πρόωρη κάθε συζήτηση για παράταση του μνημονίου χωρίς όμως να κλείνει την «πόρτα».​

Με φόντο την επικείμενη δυσμενή αναθεώρηση των στοιχείων του ελλείμματος και του χρέους για την περίοδο 2006-2009, ο Γιοργκ Ασμουσεν σημειώνει την απόλυτη ανάγκη ενός μηχανισμού αξιόπιστων δημοσιονομικών στοιχείων -«εάν διορθώνεις στοιχεία, έχεις τεράστιες δυσκολίες στις αγορές» υπογραμμίζει.​

Σε συνάντηση που είχε την Τετάρτη με Έλληνες δημοσιογράφους στο Βερολίνο ο Γιοργκ Ασμουσεν επισήμανε πως το οικονομικό πρόγραμμα της Ελλάδας –το οποίο αναγνώρισε πως είναι πολύ σκληρό- βρίσκεται σε σωστή τροχιά, αναφέροντας ότι η κυβέρνηση έχει εκπληρώσει μέχρι στιγμής στο ακέραιο τις υποχρεώσεις της κάνοντας πολύ καλή δουλειά υπό δύσκολες συνθήκες.​

Il Asmousen Jorg ritenuto che non vi è alcuna possibilità di ristrutturazione del debito greco.

Επισήμανε ότι εάν το πρόγραμμα εφαρμοστεί 100% καθ' όλη τη διάρκειά του θα πετύχει, και άλλωστε ο στόχος του είναι η αποφυγή της αναδιάρθρωσης.​

Egli ha sottolineato che se il programma attuato al 100% in tale periodo avrà successo, e in effetti l'obiettivo è quello di evitare di ristrutturazione.

Ο ίδιος επισήμανε ότι δεν μπορεί να γίνει σύγκριση μεταξύ της οικονοικής κρίσης στην Ελλάδα με εκείνη της Αργεντινής καθώς, όπως είπε, η Ελλάδα είναι χώρα της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης και συμμετέχει στην Ευρωζώνη.​

Egli ha sottolineato che non si può paragonare la crisi economica in Grecia e quella dell'Argentina, ha detto, la Grecia è un paese dell'Unione europea e partecipa alla zona euro.

Όσον αφορά την παράταση του Μνημονίου ο Ασμουσεν δήλωσε πως είναι πρόωρη η συζήτηση στην παρούσα φάση χωρίς όμως να την αποκλείει στο μέλλον.​

Per quanto riguarda l'estensione del Asmousen Memorandum ha detto che è prematuro discutere in questa fase, ma per evitare in futuro.

Το βασικό είναι να εφαρμοστεί το πρόγραμμα, επανέλαβε σημειώνοντας ότι θα χρειαζόταν συναίνεση και νέα ψηφοφορία στα εθνικά Κοινοβούλια, γεγονός καθόλου εύκολο.​

Φυλάκιση για φοροφυγάδες, νέο διευθυντήριο ελέγχων και αυστηρό σύστημα αξιολόγησης των εφοριακών περιλαμβάνει -σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες των Νέων του Σαββάτου- το νέο φορολογικό νομοσχέδιο, το οποίο θα κατατεθεί στη Βουλή μέχρι το τέλος Ιανουαρίου.

Ha ricordato che nel 2009, sei su dieci Greci non hanno pagato imposte sul reddito da dichiarare inferiore di 12.000 euro.

PM details bilateral problems, prospects in Erzurum address


ERZURUM (ANA-MPA) -- Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou on Friday covered the gamut of Greek-Turkish relations, differences and whatever prospects for resolution, speaking during a closely watched address at a conference here of Turkey's top diplomats and leadership.

In opening his address in the northeastern Anatolia city of Erzurum, Papandreou referred to an opportunity to "speak frankly and openly about our future. Will this be a future of peace or confrontation?"

The one-time Greek foreign minister, credited with initiating the so-called "earthquake rapprochement" of 1999 with the late Turkish FM Ismail Cem, referred directly to the challenges and day-to-day problems affecting bilateral relations, while he noted that his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has chosen to contribute to a new relationship of peace and cooperation.

"Nevertheless, trust is difficult to develop," he stressed, citing a provocation that occurred as late as Wednesday with the overflight of eight Turkish warplanes of "a small Greek isle (Agathonissi) with 150 inhabitants."

"... What's the meaning behind this violation of Greek sovereignty? These types of actions do not change the (legal) status in the Aegean, you can be certain of that. They (overflights) may have become routine for Turkey, but do not believe they are routine for Greece. Every such action is a reminder to Greeks that Turkey has not decided to establish different relations with Greece," he emphasised.

Conversely, he underlined that he doesn't believe "the actions of one day" can undermine the careful and systematic work conducted over years. Moreover, he called on Erdogan, whom he referred to as a "reliable interlocutor", to consolidate the "trust between us and, in the end, to build a stable peace".

In further touching on bilateral relations, he said ties should not be left to chance or to fate.

"We need to consolidate rules in our relations; principles and international law, agreements and rule of law. That's why it's a dangerous luxury to not solve the continental shelf delineation issue. This difference marked the beginning of the Greek-Turkish confrontation in the early 1970s and continues to be a major problem in our bilateral relations," he said, adding:

"Since 2002, with the exploratory contacts, we have attempted to ascertain whether there is common ground that could lead to an agreed to resolution ... We are obliged to make every effort at finding a mutually acceptable solution. If we don't achieve this within a reasonable amount of time, we must then seek recourse to international justice for a judgement based on international law. In the interim, steps must be taken to reduce tension."

At this point Papandreou again reiterated that "if Turkey truly means that it seeks peace they (overflights) must cease."

In a statement to most of his audience, top Turkish diplomats and envoys, he said:

"You are experienced diplomats and know very well that in today's world the threat of war has no place, nor does it solve problems. Certainly not by a Turkey that states that it wants zero problems with its neighbours," he said.

In reference to the long-standing Cyprus problem, Papandreou was equally succinct and direct.

"The time will come to have an open and substantive discussion between us over Turkey (EU's) candidacy. My vision has always been a Cyprus that will serve as a model for the peaceful and democratic cohabitation of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, Christians and Muslims. Of course, the Cyprus issue never had as its basis religious dimensions.

"However, there should be no illusions. The international community will not legalise an invasion. Turkey's European course will not be completed as long as the occupation (of one-third of Cyprus by Turkey) continues. A new effort is needed," he said, while adding that Cyprus President Demetris Christofias is the leader that can produce a solution on the part of the Greek Cypriots.

Banks try to hold onto deposits

Shrinking funds are forcing lenders to offer new products in order to maintain their cash flow

Banks will be up against the state in the race to maintain the banking system’s cash flow during the first half of 2011, which will probably prove crucial as sector experts expect deposits to shrink by another 10 billion euros.

Local lenders are now preparing their counterattack in an attempt to contain the outflow of deposits from the system; deposits are rapidly evaporating to cover the increased obligations of enterprises and households to the tax authorities.

Lenders’ weapons include time deposits combined with state bonds, which secure high interest rates of 8 percent for short periods and 10 percent for longer ones.

Other similar combined products are already on offer and although they are not being promoted aggressively, they are being offered to those in the know as far as yields are concerned. Banks saw rates fall to 3-3.8 percent in the last couple of months of 2010 while inflation climbed to 5.5 percent. This has led to yields on bank products falling into negative territory.

Clients of lenders such as Alpha Bank and Eurobank EFG already have this option, securing an average yield of close to 5 percent. At the same time, National Bank is promoting its 18-month time deposit that doubles the interest rate in April, August and December, securing an annual return of 3.30 percent as the yield for those months amounts to 5.4 percent.

Alternative proposals by banks concern a combination with insurance products, securing high yields for part of the deposit if the client chooses a pension scheme – such an idea has been implemented by small lenders including FBBank.

The next few months will be crucial because taxpayers are seeing their obligations increasing with the completion of the tax amnesty process and various other tax deadlines approaching.

Estimates put the decline in local bank deposits at as much as 2 billion euros in December alone, as the capacity of households to save money is steadily decreasing as a result of the drop in incomes. If this is added to the latest Bank of Greece data from end-November, deposits must have dropped by a total of 32 billion euros in 2010.

Household deposits fell from 196.8 billion euros in December 2009 to 173.4 billion in November 2010.

I SORVOLI DELL'AVIAZIONE MILITARE TURCA NEI CIELI GRECI

La tattica dei sorvoli da parte dell'esercito turco nel Mar Egeo denunciato il premier George Papandreou, parlando ieri alla conferenza degli ambasciatori turchi a Erzurum.

Ο κ. Παπανδρέου επισήμανε ότι η συγκεκριμένη πρακτική θέτει ερωτήματα σχετικά με την ειλικρίνεια της Αγκυρας να οικοδομηθούν νέες βάσεις στις σχέσεις των δύο χωρών και τόνισε: «Αυτές οι ενέργειες δεν θα αλλάξουν το καθεστώς στο Αιγαίο, σας διαβεβαιώνω».

Mr. Papandreou ha dichiarato che questa pratica solleva le questioni circa la sincerità di ancoraggio per costruire nuove basi nelle relazioni tra i due paesi e ha detto:. "Queste azioni non cambierà lo stato del Mar Egeo, vi assicuro"

Πάντως η πολύωρη κατ' ιδίαν συνάντησή του με τον Τούρκο ομόλογό του Ρετζέπ Ταγίπ Ερντογάν, που κάλυψε όλο το φάσμα των διμερών σχέσεων, αλλά και η -εκτός προγράμματος- περιήγηση των δύο πρωθυπουργών στους δρόμους του Ερζερούμ διεξήχθησαν σε εγκάρδιο κλίμα.

Le relazioni greco-turche sono già in una nuova era, ha affermato categoricamente i Primi Ministri di Grecia, George Papandreou e la Turchia, Tayyip Erdogan, pur chiedendo il proseguimento e il consolidamento di questo nuovo, il tempo reciprocamente vantaggiose.

Πρέπει αυτά να τα αφήσουμε πίσω και μπορούμε να δουλέψουμε, για να δημιουργήσουμε μία καινούργια γλώσσα, ώστε να χτίσουμε το μέλλον μας», τόνισε ο Τούρκος πρωθυπουργός, κατά τη διάρκεια της χθεσινοβραδινής κοινής συνέντευξης Τύπου των δύο ηγετών, και πρότεινε επαναπροσδιορισμό του τρόπου με τον οποίο περιγράφονται οι ελληνοτουρκικές σχέσεις.​
