Triplo Panico: comprare

"Tuttavia in
Ciao, Giuseppe

The president of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, asked for Greek politicians to put aside their differences and unite for the good of the country.
“I call on the Greek government and all Greek political and economic leaders to take their responsibility,” he said during a speech in Brussels on Thursday.
“This is no time for party politics. Too much is at stake, and Greek citizens know this.
“They ask, and so do the fellow members of the eurozone, that those responsible now take the economic future of Greece firmly in hand. This is a time, not to stand divided, but for unity in action.”
However, Aleka Papariga, the leader of the Communist Party (KKE), Greece’s third-largest party, repeated her calls on Thursday for elections to be held.
The chief of the right-wing Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS), Giorgos Karatzaferis, also warned his party to be prepared for elections. Karatzaferis said that Prime Minister George Papandreou’s reshuffle would only lead to the creation of a “caretaker” government.

Rhodes leads arrivals rise

dot_clear.gif
By Stathis Kousounis

Rhodes Airport posted the biggest year-on-year increase in arrivals from abroad in the January-May period, reaching 36.1 percent, but the general picture in Greece is falling short of expectations for tourism growth this year.
Data processed by the Association of Greek Tourist Enterprises (SETE) showed the annual increase in the year’s first five months to be just 4.5 percent as far as international arrivals in the country’s main airports are concerned.
Despite a major increase in regional airports, the rather small growth is attributed to the decline seen at Athens International Airport, which reached 6.7 percent in the same period compared with that in 2010.
Arrivals came to 2,405,030 this year to May, up from 2,300,959 last year.
Besides Rhodes, there was a significant increase in arrivals for Kos (up 27.7 percent), Iraklio (12.1 percent) and Cephalonia (10.8 percent). Forecasts had estimated a 10 percent rise in arrivals for the whole of the year.

Merkel, Sarkozy set for Greece deal -German official

BERLIN, June 17 | Fri Jun 17, 2011 3:04am EDT

BERLIN, June 17 (Reuters) - Germany and France will likely reach a compromise on Friday on involving private creditors in the funding of a second bailout for Greece, German Deputy Foreign Minister Werner Hoyer said.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet with French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Friday morning to discuss the details of a new Greek aid package. They are due to hold a joint news conference at 1145 a.m. (0945 GMT).
"I believe the meeting today will yield a solution," Hoyer told German public TV station ZDF. "I am sure that they will come to a compromise."
Asked what the compromise could consist of, Hoyer said he did not know but was confident that it would be reached.
Hoyer, a member of the Free Democrats (FDP) who are junior coalition partners to Merkel's conservatives, is not directly involved in the talks but has responsibility for coordinating French-German relations in the foreign ministry.
European paymaster Germany called earlier this month for Greece's private creditors to swap their bonds for new ones with maturities that are seven years longer, but has encountered fierce resistance to those plans from France, the European Central Bank and European Commission.
Berlin's partners are pushing for a softer option in which holders of Greek bonds would be asked to buy new Greek debt as their existing holdings mature.
Berlin is now trying to buy time for a compromise, sources say, and suggested on Thursday that a final deal may not be sealed before September.
