Bounced Cheques, Unpaid Bills Reached €1.7b In August
Unpaid bills of exchange and bounced cheques have reached €1.7 billion in August 2011, according to interbanking company Tiresias.
In Jan-Aug 2011 period, 126,411 cheques and bill of exchange were bounced, with corresponding entries in Tiresias’s black list.
According to Tiresias, 15,000 cheques of total value €153.6 million were bounced in August, reflecting a decrease of 60.9% compared with July and by 19.7% compared with August 2010.
Unpaid bills reached 13,500 worth €22.52 million.
