Turkey’s main stock index fell in its biggest slump two months on concern political unrest in the Middle East and North Africa will cut exports further after the country’s December trade gap widened to a record.
The main ISE National 100 index lost 2.9 percent, heading for the biggest slide since Nov. 29, to 63,159.65 at 5:03 p.m. in Turkey, less than 30 minutes before the close of trading. The index is down 4.2 percent this week, erasing its 2011 gains. Yields on benchmark two-year bonds rose 28 basis points to 8.19 percent, the highest since Aug. 12, according to the RBS Istanbul index of benchmark two-year bonds. The lira depreciated 1.8 percent to 1.6091 per dollar, a fourth day of losses, heading for its weakest close since June 7.
“The rising Middle East tensions are affecting the market,” Bali Ekin, head of trading at Credit Europe Bank NV in Amsterdam, wrote in e-mailed comments.
Some $2 billion of Turkish investments would be put at risk by continuing instability in Egypt, Hurriyet newspaper reported. Total trade volume with Egypt is $4 billion, and 250 Turkish companies are active in the country, it said. Turkish exports to North Africa and the Middle East were $30.361 billion in 2010, or 26 percent of total, according to the statistics agency.
The trade deficit was $8.7 billion in December, the biggest since compilation of the data began in 1984, and compares with a gap of $5 billion a year earlier.
Concern the Treasury may struggle to attract demand at a debt auction scheduled for Jan. 31 contributed to sales of shares in banks, which are the biggest holders of government securities.

“Monday’s auction is creating a lot of tension and the Treasury has a heavy debt redemption program for the coming period,” Suha Yaygin, deputy chief of emerging markets at Toronto-Dominion Bank in London, said in e-mailed comments today.
Officials at the Treasury’s press office in Ankara declined to comment on newspaper reports that it may cancel some of its planned debt sales.
Three stocks on the ISE 100 rose and 96 retreated. Turkiye Garanti Bankasi AS dropped 4.6 percent to 7.02 lira, its lowest since July. Akbank TAS fell 2.9 percent to 7.44 liras.

l'investimento in Real è andato più che soddisfacente
il Rand ad oggi non ho sbagliato mai acqsto.....
ma sai come opero....10 operazioni da 2% e..e... li godo .......capitalizzo anche in giornata........

Ti ringrazio, ma tu sei un riferimento per me; mi hai insegnato rand e try e ho guadagnato bene con le tue indicazioni nel 2010.
Dunque, per acquistare rand aspetteresti? Te lo chiedo perchè io ho guadagnato diverse volte nel 2010 comprando a 9,8 e vendendo a 9,2-9,4. Pensi che le condizioni nel 2011 siano cambiate e che la soglia di acquisto dei bond in Rand possa essere alzata a 10?

Turkey Yields Extend Gains to Six-Month High on Inflation, Egypt

Turkish bonds weakened for a second day, with yields surging to the highest level in almost six months after January inflation topped estimates and Egyptian protests continued before Friday prayers.
Yields on two-year benchmark bonds gained as much as 25 basis points to 8.50 percent, and traded up 13 basis points to 8.38 percent at 11:55 a.m. in Istanbul, the highest since Aug. 11. The lira weakened 0.5 percent to 1.6022 per dollar.
The Turkish central bank said in a report today that it expects “limited increases” to measures of core inflation over the coming months after the statistics agency in Ankara said yesterday January inflation reached 4.9 percent. Analysts had forecast 4.6 percent. Egyptians poured into Cairo’s Tahrir Square before Friday prayers, raising the prospect of an escalation in violence as protesters rejected overtures from President Hosni Mubarak.
“The markets had assumed that the central bank knows something the markets didn’t know about inflation when it started cutting rates,” Bulent Topbas, a portfolio manager at Strateji Menkul Degerler in Istanbul, said in e-mailed comments. “Yesterday’s data showed this is not the case.”
Policy makers cut Turkey’s benchmark interest rate by 75 basis points in the past two months to a record low of 6.25 percent and raised reserves for banks to prevent a credit bubble and discourage “hot money” inflows.
Turkey central bank is targeting inflation of 5.5 percent this year.
The main share index fell 0.6 percent to 63,319.24.

ciao ragà, voi che avete esperienza( e non poca) di bond in valuta estera, potreste cortesemente dirmi quale dovrebbe essere il cambio applicato dalla banca/sim e se ci sono delle differenze sostanziali in funzione del cross sottostante? Grazie anticipatamente.

Tuchia: inflazione al 4,9% nel mese di gennaio
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Ankara, 03 feb - L'inflazione in Turchia e' stata pari al 4,9% in gennaio. Lo ha detto giovedi' l'Istituto di Statistica (Tuik). I prezzi al consumo sono saliti dello 0,41% da dicembre, mentre i prezzi all'ingrosso sono aumentati del 2,36% rispetto allo stesso periodo, raggiungendo il 10,80% su base annua, ha detto l'istituto. I settori piu' colpiti dall'aumento dei prezzi al consumo sono quelli degli alberghi e ristoranti (9,38% rispetto a gennaio 2010) e alimentare (7,06%). L'aumento dei prezzi all'ingrosso, a sua volta e' guidato dall'agricoltura (14,95%), in un contesto di aumento dei prezzi internazionali delle materie prime attraverso una combinazione di un forte aumento della domanda dei paesi emergenti, di problemi climatici che interessano i raccolti e della speculazione. L'inflazione ha raggiunto l'8,19% nel gennaio 2010 per i prezzi al consumo e il 6,3% per i prezzi all'ingrosso. L'inflazione turca era ammontata al 6,4% nel 2010, in linea con l'obiettivo del governo che era del 6,5%. La banca centrale ha detto di puntare su un tasso di inflazione del 5,5 e del 5% rispettivamente nel 2011 e 2012. Il prodotto interno lordo turco e' cresciuto del 11,8%, del 10,2% e del 5,5% nei primi tre trimestri e potrebbe quindi essere pari al doppio dell'obiettivo ufficiale di crescita che era del 3,5% per il 2010. Nel 2009 il Pil turco, nel cuore della crisi, era diminuito del 4,7%.
