The Austrian listed Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) controls in the name of an unnamed client a 6.09 percent stake of Russia's sixt largest oil group Tatneft. It was stressed that the stake is not owned by RBI.

According to Moscow daily Kommersant (Monday issue) the Austrian bank acts as fiduciary for a client and will represent that client during the next shareholder meeting of Tatneft on 26 June 2015.

In an official statement issued on Friday RBI reported controlling the 6.09-percent stake.

Anonymous sources of the Russian daily showed little surprise at the announcement and the bank’s involvement.

However, no names have been disclosed.

Last year Tatneft generated a revenue of EUR 8.5bn (USD 9.3bn) and a profit of EUR 1.65bn.
