Troika Sceptical About Labour Reserve Measure
The delay in promoting labour reserve in several public companies has caused Troika’s dissatisfaction, as it is estimated that it can not reach the source of the problem.
Massive recruitments from the loophole has reversed the ratio of 1 recruitment for 10 dismissals to 1 for 6.5 in the whole public sector. Overpopulated listed SOEs have not proceed with restructuring labour costs, while business plans of loss-making SOEs are considered inadequate.
Greek FinMin Evangelos told cabinet yesterday that there are plans under preparation about labour reserve, job redundancy and organizations’ restructuring based on projects that all ministers have to send by Monday.
A few days ago, it was announced that SOEs have to send by September 26 specific reports on redundancy that could be placed in reserve status. But a FinMin official revealed that many SOEs are not expected to send their reports.
Moreover, the Troika has expressed strong objections. Reportedly, the inspectors estimate that the law bill does not implement the memorandum of understanding. The latter provides job dismissals prior the labour reserve measure.
