Statement of the Eurogroup President on Cyprus

The Eurogroup held a teleconference to take stock of the developments in Cyprus.
The Eurogroup stands ready to discuss with the Cypriot authorities a draft new proposal,
which it expects the Cyprus authorities to present as rapidly as possible.
The Eurogroup would subsequently, on the basis of a Troika analysis that needs to be
undertaken, be prepared to continue negotiations on an adjustment programme, while
respecting the parameters defined earlier by the Eurogroup. After the conclusion of such
negotiations the Cyprus authorities should begin legislating the elements of such an
agreement.
The Eurogroup reaffirms the importance of fully guaranteeing deposits below EUR 100.000
in the EU.
The Euro area Member States continue to stand ready to assist the Cypriot people in their
reform efforts and stand ready to ensure the stability of the euro area as a whole.

Michalis Sarris was released on bail, paying €47,000 to a court in the north yesterday after spending seven days in detention in connection with alleged sexual offences.

Sarris was detained during a raid on a house in the occupied part of Nicosia on the evening of October 13, along with two other men aged 17 and 29. Initially, police claimed they had a confession from the 17-year-old that he had engaged in sexual acts with Sarris.

In the following days, Turkish Cypriot police detained another two males aged 14 and 16, suggesting they too were linked to the suspects in the first case

The north (Cipro-parte Turca) has the only legal system in Europe where homosexuality is still considered a criminal act.

Come volevasi dimostrare la Russia non ha intenzione di scontrarsi con la UE e sobbarcarsi l'onere del salvataggio di Cipro.

L'incontro di ieri, in teleconferenza, dell'Eurogruppo ha ribadito le motivazioni che hanno portato all'accordo precedente, sottolineando però la volontà di esentare i depositi sotto i 100K.

La situazione rimane molto pericolosa, ma Cipro non ha altre carte in mano da giocare ... se non accettare il piano della Troika con qualche aggiustamento.

Dopo una giornata trascorsa in tendenziale restringimento per i GGB, i rumors di una radicalizzazione delle posizioni accompagnati da una possibile uscita di Cipro dall'Eurozona (con sponda a Mosca) hanno fatto allargare di nuovo i differenziali dei TdS di Atene.

Oggi la partita si riapre, con Nicosia costretta a passare sotto le forche caudine ... resistenza eroica, ma conclusione alla Marcantonio Bragadin ...

Bond euro aprono in rialzo, crisi Cipro alimenta avversione rischio

LONDRA, 22 marzo (Reuters) - Apertura di segno positivo per i futures Bund sullo sfondo della crisi di Cipro, dove manca ancora un accordo sulle condizioni del bailout senza il quale il paese rischia di sprofondare in tempi rapidissimi nel caos finanziario.

L'Europa ha dato tempo fino a lunedì a Cipro per trovare 5,8 miliardi di euro, condizione richiesta per la concessione di un prestito da 10 miliardi di euro all'isola.

Le tensioni su Cipro hanno spinto ieri il rendimento sul Bund decennale in area 1,34%, il minimo del 2013, con alcuni operatori che scommettono su un ulteriore ribasso in caso di trascinamento della crisi cipriota.

"Ieri si è partiti con un mercato che pensava che una qualche sorta di soluzione sarebbe arrivata. Ovviamente queste speranze sono progressivamente svanite nel corso della giornata", spiega un trader. "Rimaniamo positivi sul Bund, continuiamo a pensare che 1,25% (di rendimento sul decennale) sia un target fattibile per il mercato, che è ben sostenuto al momento".
