PM Says Some Greek Banks May Have To Be Nationalized

BRUSSELS -- Some Greek banks may have to be nationalized after the application of the agreed 50% write down in nominal value of Greek bonds held by the private sector, as part of new euro-zone package for the country, Greek prime minister George Papandreou said Thursday.

Speaking to reporters after the conclusion of a marathon euro area leaders' summit, Papandreou said Greek banks would be recapitalized with official funds that would come out of the country's fresh EUR130B bailout package.

"If the private sector can recalitalize the banks they can do that but if they can't it means the official sector will need to. That will mean a temporary passage of ownership to the state. After restructuring they will be sold back to the private sector," Papandreou said.

He also said the details of the new package would be worked out over the next few weeks.

"We want to be done with this," he added.

Asked if he was contemplating calling an early election or seeking the formation of a government of national unity, Papandreou said that Greeks want changes, not elections.

"We will continue to seek the maximum level of consensus possible," he added.

occorre riscrivere anche la legge fallimentare, d'ora in avanti chi fallisce, purchè sia un ente pubblico, avrà diritto di proprietà sui beni dei creditori.

La perpetual su cui ho la maggiore esposizione percentuale è la AXA XS0188935174 cara a Mais e che anche ieri ho comprato su Euronext a 51,15.

Punti di forza:

1) Upper Tier2 e prospetto assai garantista
2) Emittente di buon pedigree con CDS sub a 10 anni a 440
3) taglio minimo 1000
4) rating dell'emissione A3

Punti di debolezza:

1) E' una perpetual assai "noiosa" nel senso di poco reattiva
2) Spread bid-ask abbastanza ampio (ieri 51-55)

spread ampio ma vedo che hai acquistato a 0,15 di spread. Punto debole anche la improbabilissima call ma al prezzo attuale è ottima.

BANCO SABADELL: UTILE NETTO 9 MESI A 207,4 MLN EURO

MILANO (MF-DJ)--Banco Sabadell ha chiuso i primi 9 mesi con un utile
netto di 207,4 mln euro, in calo del 39% rispetto ai 340,3 mln euro dello
scorso anno.

Nel periodo la performance del gruppo bancario spagnolo e' stata
compromessa dal crescente volume di prestiti in sofferenza. La societa' si
e' vista infatti costretta ad accantonare 767,3 mln euro per coprire
perdite e svalutazioni legate all'esposizione della banca al mercato
immobiliare. I prestiti inesigibili sono saliti al 5,72 alla fine dei 9
mesi contro il 4,72% del corrispondente periodo del 2010.

Il margine netto dell'istituto di credito e' salito del 2,4%
raggiungendo gli 1,15 mld euro.

dobbiamo aspettare e vedere i risultati per banca.

ms è quello che si è avvicintato di più indubbiamente ai risultati finali.

però hanno sottopesato troppo gli aumenti necessari a unicredit e monte paschi (mia idea)
dimenticavo che probabilmente se si fa il mark to market tds anche intesa ha bisogno di qualche centinaio di milioni di captale, ma riesce tranquillamente con gli utili non distribuiti

certo è che tolta intesa io non vorrei avere nessuna azione bancaria italiana (peraltro non ne ho nessuna al momento, e non intendo prenderle)

Per me questa resta un gioiellino, per chi prevede irs 10 basso ancora per molto tempo (paga 4% + 22% irs 10a).

BNP PARIBAS: NESSUNA ESIGENZA DI CAPITALE IN BASE A TEST EBA

BNP Paribas SA (BNP.FR), the country's largest bank in terms of market value, won't need to raise external capital to comply with the new European Banking Authority rules, a company spokeswoman said Thursday.

"BNP Paribas confirms it will be able to comply with the new EBA rules of a minimum common equity tier one ratio of 9% by June 30, 2012, without the need to raise capital," Julia Boyce said in a telephone interview.

"In addition, BNP Paribas will achieve the goal of 9% under full Basel III by Jan. 1 2013 in line with a previous announcement also without having to go to the market to raise capital," she added.

The EBA said around 70 banks in the 27-country bloc must add roughly EUR106 billion to their capital reserves to reflect price declines in the Greek and other sovereign debt they hold.

Final shortfall estimates will be released next month and banks will have until the end of the year to tell domestic regulators how they plan to come up with the capital.

Banco Santander SA (STD) a annoncé jeudi une hausse de 10% de son résultat net au troisième trimestre, et a déclaré qu'elle n'aurait pas besoin de lever des capitaux supplémentaires ou de réduire son dividende pour atteindre les nouvelles exigences de fonds propres.

La banque espagnole a indiqué qu'elle visait un ratio de fonds propres durs de 10% d'ici juin 2012. A la fin du troisième trimestre, son ratio de fonds propres durs s'établissait à 9,42%.

La première banque de la zone euro en termes de capitalisation boursière a indiqué que les nouvelles règles obligeant à comptabiliser les dettes souveraines à leur valeur de marché aurait un impact de 1,5 milliard d'euros sur ses fonds propres.

Le résultat net de la première banque d'Espagne en termes d'actifs a atteint 1,80 milliard d'euros au troisième trimestre, contre 1,64 milliard d'euros à la même période de l'an dernier, alors que les analystes l'attendaient légèrement plus haut, à 1,85 milliard d'euros.

Le produit net des intérêts a augmenté de 4%, à 7,70 milliards d'euros, conformément aux attentes des analystes.

Le résultat net des neuf premiers mois de l'exercice s'est établi à 5,3 milliards d'euros, en baisse de 13% par rapport à la même période de 2010.
