State Revenue Decreased By 7% In October
The Greek Treasury has received a heavy blow in October, as strikes and economic contraction nearly froze the tax revenue system. FinMin sources said that net revenues amounted to €4.2 billion, decreased by 7% compared with the corresponding last year.
During the period January-October 2011, the Greece state raised a total amount of €39.17 billion, 4.4% lower than the corresponding period of 2010. Thus, the gap in state budget stands at €2.4 billion.
Minimum amounts were collected through the solidarity levy, trade tax and luxury tax, as the payment notices were sent just a few days ago, due to protests by workers in the General Secretariat for Information Systems.
But FinMin sources are optimistic that revenues in November would demonstrate an improvement as two tranches of the emergency levy are expected.

Government and market officials weigh economy’s strength in anticipation of critical political decisions.
* The prerequisites of sixth instalment remain pending. This means that even a political solution cannot ensure the release of the €8 billion tranche if Greek commitments are not implemented.
The backlog is long, as the 2012 budget should be postponed for a week under the Greek Constitution. Moreover, the loan agreement should be signed, along with implementation of medium-term fiscal program.
* State revenues shrank in October. If the revised deficit target is missed, then additional measures should be adopted in 2012.
* Liquidity in the Greek market slides, as banks remain a waiting stance regarding the release of the next instalment.
* Available funds for the Greek state last until December 10, but under very specific conditions, while the sixth instalment is officially expected on December 15.
The government has suspended almost all payments except salaries and pensions. It anticipates revenues through the extension of OPAP license, VAT collection, revenue measures and EU funds, while it has scheduled two auctions of treasury bills of €4 billion.

No Direction For ASE Ahead Of Vote Of Confidence
The Greek political drama still weighs on the Greek market, as the General Index records loses of 1.5%, while the trading turnovers reflects investors’ nervousness.
Losses for week amount to 6.36%, while banks’ accumulative losses stand at 8.47%. Market analysts expect minor and cautious moves from the most “adventurous” investors.
They also expect the turnover to be determined by the political developments, which dominate the news flow.
The surprise of European Interest rate reduction by 25bpts was positively perceived by the markets, but is not expected to significantly affect the domestic environment, said Beta Securities in a report.
The latest developments point towards some form of consensus in the political world, hence this might stop, at least temporary, market’s decline, Beta commented.
On the board, the General Index is at 742.26 units with losses of 2.27%, while the turnover stands at €15.6 million. A total amount of 36 shares rise, 31 decline and 10 remain unchanged.
Greek banks decline by 1.09% at 317.92 units.
