, the No. 3 worldwide maker of cell phones, on Tuesday said quarterly earnings rose, helped by robust holiday sales. Schaumburg, Illinois-based Motorola said it earned $654 million, or 27 cents a share, in the fourth quarter, compared with $489 million, or 20 cents a share, a year earlier. SAN FRANCISCO, Jan 18 (Reuters) - International Business Machines Corp.
on Tuesday posted a quarterly net profit that beat Wall Street's recently raised target as solid year-end product sales were buoyed by a weaker U.S. dollar. IBM, based in Armonk, New York, reported net income of $3.1 billon, or $1.81 a share, in the fourth quarter, compared with a profit of $2.71 billion, or $1.56 a share, a year earlier.
