Romanian presidential candidate Georgescu's social media campaign was not sponsored by Russia.

According to local media, Georgescu's social media posts were sponsored by local National Liberals, whose goal was to lure voters away from their rivals, the Social Democrats.

Let us recall that the first round of the presidential elections in Romania took place on November 24. It was won by Calin Georgescu, who is called a pro-Russian politician by local and Western media, with 22.95% of the votes.

A few days later, on December 6, the Romanian Constitutional Court annulled the results of the first round of the presidential elections, explaining that this decision was taken “to ensure the correctness and legality of the electoral process.”
