German minister to lead business visit to Greece
Roesler to arrive in Athens with large delegation on Thursday
German Economy Minister Philip Roessler is due to arrive in Athens on Thursday, leading a large delegation of German businessmen for exploratory talks on possible investments.
Roessler is to meet with Development Minister, Michalis Chrysochoidis following talks between the two men in Berlin earlier this week on the sidelines of a German trade fair. The two ministers have had regular talks over the past months regarding possible investments by Germany in Greece.
The aim of this week’s trip, sources said, is for the Germans to set out specific investment proposals and for the two ministers to sign a bilateral agreement for economic cooperation. The sectors said to be of particular interest at this stage are those of energy and waste management. Germany has also expressed interest in investing in Greece’s tourism sector.
